I've decided to sell my Lavender Orpington flock. 4 Hens, 1 older pullet, and 2 roos.

Since I've added the Sebastapol Geese, and Khaki Campbell Ducks, something has to go. I will miss them as they are nice calm good laying birds.

$150.00 for the flock. That is firm.


Also, I have teenage White Curly breasted Sebastopol Goslings for sale. $60 each,buy 2 for $100. They are unsexed.

Also a 1.5 year old goose (hen) for $100.

Sebis eggs sell for $10 each and are popular now. Year old geese (hens) lay around 20 eggs a year, then the numbers go up as the age. a 2 year old can lay 20-40 eggs a year.

I have too many roos, too...lol. Three of the four Speckled Sussex I hatched at the end of April are cockerels. I was really hoping to get at least two SS ladies. Oh well. On the flip side, I only hatched one Black Australorp cockerel and have a good number of pullets. Anybody want to swap a SS pullet for an Australorp pullet?

I've got one nice little BCM cockerel who will be my new flock rooster. And two BCM pullets that I got from a lady in Canandaigua. I can't wait for them to get old enough to start breeding them. I'm also going to put that BCM cockerel over my EEs and see if I can hatch some OEs.

Still waiting to sex my three silkies. The neighbor is pretty sure two of them are cockerels, based on the width of their comb but....I've read enough to know that even experienced silkie breeders can have a hard time sexing them. So we'll see!

Well we ate our rooster tonight. Some of it was eatable...The legs were tough as hell! I did everything that was recommended. I let it rest in the fridge for 5 days. I soaked it in a brine like a friend recommended and I slow cooked it in the crock pot. The breast meat was pretty good. There was more then I expected. DD was a little put off that were were eating our roo, but DS loved what I gave him. I guess next time I'm just going to make chicken N biscuit instead of trying to just eat the chicken. I think that the chickens liked it the best as all. I gave them the rest of the meat left on the bones.

All else is going well. I think that I finally have the incubator figured out and I'm setting my eggs tomorrow. Just giving it one more night to make sure that I have it for sure. Lets hope for some sort of success. I'll feel like it is a successful hatch if I get 1 or 2!

Toomanyroos syndrome over here too Wish I could keep them all, but 10 Roos are just a few too many.

They are spitzhaubens: leghorn type, considered LF tho on the small side of LF. Fun birds w lots of energy and personality. Pm me if you need a polka-dotted roo w a Mohawk.
