NY chicken lover!!!!

Evening all. Getting quite the storms here but the temps are dropping, thank goodness. Dh made it home before me and gave everyone some frozen watermelon before it poured. I was afraid of finding dead chickens cause it was soooooooo hot and humid. Everyone was okay.

Lynzi--congrats on the house! I hope that they are open to chickens as well. Good luck with all your packing!

Ke5shde--how is the other chick feathering out? Still has the leakage or is it growing out? Hilda keeping Junior in line? Lol

Pyxis--good luck with all your hatching.

Rancher--our only option was time warner for internet. Hasnt been bad. We stream netflix and stuff off our roku box cause nobody is home enough to warrent having tv service. My home phone is magic jack so if the internet goes out, we read. Suits me just fine.

Inventory tomorrow. Not going to be a fun day.

DW is home so I thought cable would be good for her. She can't go out much.

I like to sleep late and watch CBS this morning on line. Most of the time I'm up but when I miss the first hour I like to watch it on the internet.

Verizon kept going in and out. Made me mad. Without cable and just the antennae the TV kept going in and out.

We were paying $77 for Verizon so I thought $79 for Time Warner would work. I was wrong. Who has internet so slow these days? It's just ridiculous.

Lynzii, congrats! House with lake rights sounds awesome! Enjoy. I hope they let you have chickens! Hope your move goes well.

Rancher, we pay for the internet cable and watch tv through the computer, and get Netflix, hulu, and amazon prime on tv. It kills me during football season, but I'm good with it the other months of the year.

Fredo and DH had an altercation. It was coop cleaning time, about every 5 days, and Fredo decided that he didn't want to leave the coop. I can't clean it with him in there because he's all over the place. Tis mating season in the coop so he doesn't want to be away from his honey's. So DH tries to grab Fredo and he turned into a wild flying machine. He eventually calmed down enough to be picked up and moved so I could get the coop cleaned. Well, in his crazy jumping, he must've broken a nail. No blood but it looks a bit crooked and he's walking but seems to favor the foot. I'm thinking that because there's no blood that it'll heal up ok. We checked it out pretty good and it looks like the edge of the nail is a little tender but it's still adhered very well. Anyone else have a bird with a loose nail? Did you wrap it? or leave it? He's in the coop with the 2 others but they don't disturb him. When he's separated from his hens he gets anxious and crows very loudly. The hens respond, they cluck very loudly back to him. This tends to go on until he gets back into his coop. This is why we decided to let him stay in the coop, even with a hurt toenail. He seems more calm in there.

I would either wrap it so it doesnt tear more or cut it off.

Morning all. The cooler weather has arrived thank goodness! I have turned off the ac and opened every window in the house. The cheeps were pounding on the doors to get out this morning. They are liking the cooler air as well. I let their food run out yesterday and they did a pretty good job of cleaning up all the food they had thrown all around their coops. Of course this meant I had to fill everyones feeder this morning. The terrorists were very vocal about the status of their feeder and continued to yell at me even after I had refilled the feeder and left. Demanding bunch of needy divas.

Rancher--I agree with gma. Your internet should not be that slow. They can do a remote test to see if its their equipment that is faulty. I have had them do that when I have had problems with my internet. Once they had to replace their modem and once they had to send a repair guy to fix something out on the pole. You are paying for their services therefore they work for you. Call them and complain.

Off to the pharm for inventory. Have a good day everyone.

Thanks Rancher, will do! We have gauze and will try to do a little foot wrap for him today. My concern was that he's constantly walking in his water, which I change at least once a day. I use a regular kitchen pot and fill it completely and didn't want him to end up with a wet bandage. We have the chicken water container too but if that decides to empty out it's a lot of water going all over the coop floor. And it's inside so it's a mess to clean up. I'll just have to rewrap if he decides to take a bath in his water, lol.

For TWC, we have the road runner for internet too. It's more expensive than regular internet but it's very fast. DH is into computers and sets it all up. He checks computer speeds and it's usually is pretty fast.

Why Do - but your set up has to be pretty clean and also not crowded - so there is a low risk of him making it worse ... I'd leave him in your coop.

Two LF broodies have been one box brooding for a week now - they seem to have it down.

Millie box had her and TWO OTHER LF marans hens in there two days in a row - I kicked the marans out - they could only have been in there hours each day - I hope I can keep them from really going broody.

SHEESH Louise ......and there are still 5 other places they could plop an egg and go broody - but NO ..... they want to do it on the spot the others are on .... 1/2 way through the hatching countdown ..... next weekend they should pip .... we shall see .....

However - all the little ones I bought, traded for or had Pyxis hatch out for me have been doing GREAT ! No loss at all - which I expected some - so now I am over capacity with more to hatch out.

Garden - almost all weeds
Fruit and nut trees - doing great.

I can't complain at all - other than I wish I had more time - as it all looks scruffy - I just don't have enough time to weed and cut and trim all that needs attention.

I love this cooler weather - much better for sleeping at night! I woke up to the brooder at 85 degrees, though.. too cool for my babies. So I lowered the heat lamp and they're all happy and warm again.

I love your needy divas, haha.

There is something wrong with your set up ..something is slowing you down .
I have Road Runner ...I get instant loading ..I rarely have to wait more than 2 seconds for anything ..I have 3 computers going 24 /7
I would call them back ...tell them how slow it is see if they can help you .

Ohhh that's right! Rancher, did you get their basic package or Road Runner? RR is definitely faster, but like others are saying, yours shouldn't be THAT slow. We just have connection problems with ours not speed. TWC has been out to our house many times to "fix" the problem. The best thing we ever did was purchase our own router.
