She more medium sized but you could cross any hens to a large rooster and work your way up. I just keep the hens.I might take you up on that! Would that make a large EE?

That certainly was a nice get together last night! Nice seeing everyone one last time before we head out on Thursday. Glad I got see my peeps too of course. It's so hard to wake up every morning and not anything to go outside to. After we get moved and settled and the kids are all set for school, registered, physicals done, etc, I can see myself devoting the rest of my summer to getting my birds down there. Even if they do end up being down the road, it's better than not having them down there at all. I wonder if I'd be able to "rent/lease" a piece of a farm's land close by. I often see ads on CL for people looking for land to lease for hunting or housing their animals on, I wonder how successful they are in finding someone who will lease to them. Maybe I'll try editing my ad that way.![]()
Need advice on pine shavings.... What is the best way to clean the brooder of their little droppings? Should I just clean them all out and add new ?

Your talking a chick brooder right? I put down paper towels for the first few days then after that I put down a layer of paper towels then cover it with shavings. I use a large plastic tub, so as they are scratching around the bottom is always covered so it won't be slippery. Then every few day's I clean it out. I like the paper towels under the shavings because then I don't need to add so much shavings at first. I get the cheapest roll that I can find. May only use the one roll the whole time that they are in the house. Now that they are getting bigger I can add more shavings and may not need the paper towels. I keep mine in the back room so I don't like to let it get to dirty or when DH gets home for the week he'll complain about the smell. You heard Happy Wife = Happy Life...in this house it is Happy Husband = Wife gets to keep her chickens!Need advice on pine shavings....
