NY chicken lover!!!!

That Mexican family, they don't have guinea's anymore just chickens, or anyway I don't see them dead in the road anymore. Maybe because guinea fowl are native to Africa they just don't have the instinct to avoid cars and roads?

If anyone is planing on buying guinea keets don't make the mistake I made. I spent a lot of money on them, and over fed them. They just kept eating and eating, and I kept their feed bowl full. It killed all but my male. Overfeeding them KILLS them. I ended up buying some more after learning this. Then they all got hit in the road eventually after they were full grown. I would like to get some more, but I don't think I can talk my wife into it.

Mine never over ate. They were just so outrageously loud. I told my husband last night I was getting them again and he just rolled his eyes.

I used to be able to get guinea eggs cheap from someone local then hatch them myself or have a broody hen do it. If I can get eggs still do you want some too?

Hey all. Ive decided on my replacement breed for the 2 cockerals that went to freezer camp. I am looking to get 2 standard Cochin, older pullets, in the spring. Im between Rochester and Syracuse, anyone have any breeder suggestions?
I don't post much, but I keep up with reading this thread ;)
@AQHAchick22 sorry for the loss of Stella.

That's the running theory...or some kind of bad infection. Either way she didn't make it through the night...

RIP my little Stella. I just wish I knew what was wrong with her. It was so sudden and by the time I got to her I guess it was just too late...
so sorry to hear stella didnt make it ..it always leave a empty feeling in side ...you should try and find what she ate to clear it out or off the property if possible..

Not much new on the chicken front. My little Curly Sizzle rooster has started crowing at 10.5 weeks. So cute. I heard him when I went out in the morning from inside their little coop. Then when I let them out he did it again for a few timed till I let the big chickens out.

(not sure that is going to work or not)

On the duck front...We are working on getting the material together to make their own area. Hopefully we'll get it done before the snow flies! Our little one is starting to get some tail feathers. So excited that she/he is going to be blue like her dad! Also super happy that she/he has good markings.

Think that I'm going to name her/him Lottie Da! Hopefully it will be a girl...but will be a while longer till I know for sure. Can't wait till next spring when I can hatch out a bunch more. I love these Magpies!!
