NY chicken lover!!!!

Ok everyone here is the list of what I have for feed so far and please everyone realize the local feed mill feed in 100 lb bags will fluctuate a little in price best to call first before you come out I accept cash, check and credit card. The local feed is non gmo and organic but is not certified or labeled that if you would like it to be the price goes way up. The Blue Seal and Poulin Grain feed is 50lb bags and is not organic or non gmo I can order that but again the prices go way up. If coming to get a large order of feed make sure you check that I have it the feed flies off the shelf the bigger the order I put in the more it gets bought. This list is also on the chickenstock thread

We are going to try to make it down Saturday. If we go for sure I'll let everyone know incase you want me to grab something.

We moved from Coopers Plains, NY to Florida about 15 years ago. Looking at the forecast for the New England area today, it still seems like a good move.

Y'all hunker down today! Y'hear?

We in Syracuse seem to be just on the edge. We've gotten the cold, but not much snow at all.

Thank the Lord. Though I did have to put a heat pack on my hand when I came back in this am.

Well now I have to be sure before I make the trip is all. I will most likely come once a month. So do I have to pre-order? I'll most likely get the 100# bags of layer, Probably 4 - 5 bags and some cracked corn.

I have to preorder or call CM if I want anything from them and it's a pain.

Your 50# bags of sun flower seed is not a bad price, btw. I don't usually use a lot of those. I mix them with the scratch grains.

Does anyone feed their chickens oats?

What is the protein level on the chick crumbles?

And finally if I drive all the way, will you have a coffee/sitting area? Nothing fancy just a place to sit and talk if someone is there that is. DW can make some cookies.

What types of stuff will you be selling in the store? or is that not in the works yet? Will you be up for consignment stuff?

See I was thinking you could be the middle man for hatching eggs and such. Had a guy stop here yesterday to buy hatching eggs. Which was good cuz we could use the money. I need grit anyhow.

I always tell folks I'm full of ideas and they reply "oh your full of something alright".

Now I couldn't put it in the other post, but If forgot to mention that at the market saturday this kid had acorn squashes three for a dollar. I figured I buy three to cut open and give to the chickens. They didn't look all that good anyhow. Which some weren't they had froze and were mushy. So I said I'd take three and mentioned I wanted them for my chickens. Well his father heard and said here take them all. AND he came running after us with the other box of some yellow and spotted type acorns. So I got a whole lot of acorn squashes for $3.

Of course the chickens don't mind if they've been frozen. So I'll just leave them in the box and every so often hack a few open and give them to the chickens.

Now Nutty, if you've got farm stuff like that it would be good to offer cheap boxes of stuff that is safe for chickens but humans won't eat. End of season and all the pumpkins are on the way out, I'd be interested in buying them saving them to give to the chickens through the winter.

I figure the guy with the squash got $3 where if he didn't sell them to me would have tossed them and had nothing. My chickens love to raid my compost pile. I figure if they eat it they must like it.

Speaking of feeding your chickens squash...I am highly allergic to wheat, barley and rye. Is there something I can grow or feed to buy that won't break the bank for my chickens that is healthy for me to be around???

Squash and pumpkins I can grow in abundance on a good year....sunflowers too.

I am new at this chicken thing. My chicks are only 5 months old as the oldest...

Thanks

Purpletie2 ....
