NY chicken lover!!!!

I was actually shocked how quickly these eggs were fertile. Both these birds hatched in July 2014, same Roo different hens. I brought the pair in and kept them in their own space in the garage and I now have an incubator full of their eggs. The only one that wasn't fertile was the first one ever laid, I was ecstatic lol
We were pretty shocked also...all laid...all fertile. We didn't even have our nesting box set up yet. Funny story was the rooster got himself stuck in there...shoved all the straw over the hole. We had to remove the box to get him out. LOL

Pretty cool how nature works!

Well now I noticed foot prints in my yard and I think that Boxer was back.  I am NOT happy.  I will have to be on my guard.

Though DW looks as though her wound has become infected and I'm concerned. Which means a trip to the doctors.

I noticed Delores and her gang won't come out of the coop as they used to do. I will try to be outside as much as I can to watch for that dog.

If my chickens see my dog in the window they run back to the coop and don't come out the rest of the day.

Our yellow lab is chicken crazy. We have tried to break her to no avail. Once they move the chase is on. If they stand still she stands still too.

Hope you DW is ok!

I haven't seen the dog of late. Thing is if hens get upset they won't lay. That's why when folks say their girls aren't laying I wonder if something has upset them. Even new people in the coop can put them off for a few days.

DW is fine. New meds and cream. Being diabetic I worry about her wound care.

In other news, GD is watching Doc McStuffins and I learned of a new medical problem. "Lazyosis". So now all those lazy people we know actually have a medical condition.

EEK! I'm at work and power is out at home! Normally it wouldn't matter, except that I have 15 chicks in the garage under a heat lamp! Have another 2 in the house under heat, but they should be ok a little longer. They are from the Valentines hatch, so almost 6 weeks old and fully feathered, but it is still stinking cold out there!

Is there someone you can call?

Take some jugs of hot water and place them in the brooder to keep them warm?

Lap, you can find out on line some info, there is an estimated time they will have power restored. Then you can see if you need to steam home quick or not. We lost power yesterday with all that wind, half hour . A friend a few miles away was out 5.5 hours. Good luck.

Rancher, you will love new garage doors, they work so well compared to old ones. Don't know anything helpful to the process, though!
