NY chicken lover!!!!

Someone on here was saying they had blue partridge brahmas. I think it was Purpletie? I am raising a few myself this year and was wondering if anyone would trade a nice blue roo. Or I will buy it if you don't one one of my blue partridge. All my blue roos are from the same pen as my girls that I am keeping. I would like a back up roo not related to my girls. I have quite a few extra Pullets and would trad a Pullet if you need one. Also if I make it to the August chickenstock I will most likely have a few for sale if anyone is interested. They are from chickenhill, from 2 different breeding pens, so you will be able to get a breeding pair or trio if you like. Thanks!
those are really pretty.

Spent a nice afternoon in my gardens transplanting stuff and weeding and adding more soil. My blackberries are loaded with green berries. My strawberries are coming along and my plum trees are liking their new pots. Pulled some weird thing out of my vegetables garden. Not sure what it was. Got all the nasty picker bushes chopped down. They smelled weird but now they are chopped down so they die!

Little big man and splash have been out all day and are happy. I let the little monsters out and the boys spent the first hour challenging each other and racing, jumping and flying around the coop/run. A couple of them made the mistake of going over to the terrorists run and eyeballing The Duke. He let them know in no uncertain terms that if that fence wasn't there, he would be kicking some serious you know what around the yard. Needless to say, the little boys quickly backed off and ran for safety. Duke was quite vocal in his admonishment of them. Message was received.

I am trying out sand in the brooder in an attempt to keep the dust to a minimum and poops dry. The silkie chick's weren't sure about it at first, then ate some but are now just chillin. I hope it works better than the pine shavings.

Tired now but a good kind of tired that happens when you accomplish some things you have been trying to get to. My garden grows, my cheeps are healthy and happy and so all is right with the world.

Found a good weed suppressor, big ole rhubarb leaves. Covered up the area I'm going to transplant some cabbage when I thin them out.

Brought home a little baby O Shamo stag named Khan yesterday. I had been trying to find good Malay, and had no luck, but a local breeder had some stunning young Shamo, and I couldn't say no!
Another 4 hours of bird related driving, getting the new baby then driving out to buy end tables for the hatchery so all my logs and paperwork was no longer spread out on the couch...

I'm exhausted today, so I only got one pen cleaned, and had to cut the gosling play time a little short. Khan got a blankie, and has been hanging out with me so he wouldn't be stuck in his crate all day. Tomorrow the keets go out into the kids' pen. The cots will head into the outdoor layer cages, since there are so few the big grow out cage I usually that holds about 40 cots use seemed overkill. Weather permitting, the pheasants will go out for the day and come back to their brooders in the evening. There are so few of them I can combine the salvaged hatches in the large quail grow out pen...

Next lockdown cycle starts Friday....
...and I still need to mow the lawns...

@LadyHawkeAvry I know a guy in PA that has Malay. If you want I could pm him to see if he has some for sale, or give you his BYC name and you could contact him.

I was looking for if any were even in the USA, had a dumb idea of crossing them with jersey giants. I get too many plans and ideas.
He is 'maranfarmer563' usually somewhere on BYC. I don't know him personally just from talking to him on some threads he's been on.

Thanks! I will have to look him up! (Now I'm curious to see what would happen if I put Kahn over one of my orpingtons... LOL!)

perhaps it's time to start a new thread titled "Looking For". It could be a thread for finding anything. M. Earth has pages of folks looking for recipes, patterns, and even old folks they used to know.

That's a good idea!
I just happened upon him (maranfarmer563) or he did me asking in a pm if I bred brown leghorns, cause he seen I had some and was not far from him. I don't, just have some, great egg laying breed. Then I realized he had Malay's when I was talking to him, he actually offered to put a roo on some J giant hens for me. I turned him down, I kinda wanted do it myself, I just wanted to have a, or see a Malay rooster myself. Then I changed direction, chicken math sucks, there is just so many awesome breeds out there, I want them ALL. But I have to be realistic I guess. Right now, still waiting for SandHill to pull through, they said I would get my chicks on May 5

, maranfarmer563 has a lot of rare breeds, I think he even has them long crowers, I know he has cemanis, svarts, marans, etc. Keeps them in tractors for breeding pens, great idea for keeping them separate. I hope he still has the Malay. LadyHawkeAvry is right, super rare and cool, they were one of the breeds that wet into the RIR. Three foot tall! I don't know how they do in our climate, but if they are alive in northern PA, probably ok. I searched the net for any breeders of Malay before and came up with some, dead ends.
