Power went back on and off again, at least this time only for about 10 minutes. I shut the room down, and with the fan off the temperature shot up to well above 80. I was dying for 3 hours, but hopefully something lived!
A generator is definitely in order. Mom's dementia is bad enough that she gets very disoriented by power outages like these...

We now have 18 chicks ...A mix of EEs & brahmas
Im beginning to regret offering to hatch for a local person .
He is finally starting to hatch his own chickens ..
Not sure he is going to take any of them ..
I offered to hatch for him in trade for chick food ..
His wife lost her job ..so he is saying he cant afford to buy any for me now
suggesting we trade some ...not sure how that would work ...
Babies are bonded to mommies now ...at all most 2 weeks

Morning all. Storms rolled through last night but no power outages. We have a generator so I don't worry too much about that. Ladthawke...I wouldn't give up on those eggs just yet. You should get chick's despite the outage.

Looked in on my mommas and babies. All is well and they are sitting tight on the remaining eggs. Little faces poked out from under Eowyns wings to see me. Adorableness!

I do have real chickens as well Rancher. You sound like Dh.

This is The Duke. He owns the property and has 21 wives to look after. Dh calls the the "real chickens!"

Hey I too have a flowerpot growing chickens... and yep, they little buggers jump out looking like a dust storm.

As promised, here are some pics of Eowyn (porcelain hen) and Arwin (blue hen) with 3 blue chicks hatched out. Arwin is sitting on 4 eggs that should hatch soon.

I don't think these chicks I left are as big as they should be. I think it's the lower protein or different feed. I usually feed them Dumor 20%. They've been on the Runner brand that was on sale.

Now storms over here. I know TX was getting more rain when we left. Maybe some storms too. I'll have to check with DD.
