NY chicken lover!!!!

Even though GFF warranties orders I think what your doing is better, the more chicks shipped the better chance of survival.
And ohh, you meant your cache not posts of pics, no clue how to empty that, I only see mine if I'm on the laptop which is rarely.

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but,,,,, oh look a chicken!

Or

I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but then there are no tools in the shed. I've taken them out and filled it with chickens.

I wish I could go in on a GFF order with you guys, but you're just too far from me. I'd order a couple cemanis, but you are about four hours away from me, unfortunately. Ah well, I already have some from their line, so I'll just keep hatching!

In other news back home. Lots to do to get back in the swing of things. Haven't forgotten those who I owe money and have your paypal account info, but United airlines lost our bag with our bills and check book in it. I am NOT happy. We are waiting to hear from them but I know we're going to have to go to the airport again!
So You are HOME ?

Today was productive! Got the new run almost finished, it just needs netting over the top. Also got the ducklings moved to their brooder in the workshop which is good because two days in the house was plenty. Ten ducklings can get stinky quickly. Also got Einstein and Witchypants moved out into the big coop, where he now has about 20 hens to himself. So far it's going okay. He kicked the tails of some of the juvenile cockerels that were out free ranging when they decided to challenge him. And then Raptor tried to fence fight him but he was having none of that. Just got everyone locked in the coop for the night because a storm is rolling in. It was raining by the time I finally got everyone corralled and in the coop.

As promised, here are some pics of Eowyn (porcelain hen) and Arwin (blue hen) with 3 blue chicks hatched out. Arwin is sitting on 4 eggs that should hatch soon.

Just got real dark here...we have tornado warnings. Hopefully, power will be ok as I have an incubator full of lovely eggs!!!

Everyone stay safe!!!!

My husband and I watched a funnel form then dissipate. There was an unconfirmed report of a touch down two towns over,

Of course, the power went out for three hours. The hatcher is full of Ancona eggs that just went into lockdown last night. Incubator 2 is full of scovies, and 3 was production run and a few more saxonies (mama saxony is a sporadic layer at this point), about half full. All in all, close to 4 dozen eggs may or may not have survived. If they were quail I wouldn't worry. Quail will hatch in a warm breeze. Much of the production run was moulards. They die if you look at them funny they are so hard to hatch (even Holderread only got a 40% hatch rate..) I'm pretty sure my cabinet is full of dead moulards after that weather related surprise.....
Never, ever, a dull moment here...

Perhaps it's time to invest in a small generator? Either that or get one of those plug connectors to go in your car? Not sure it will run for three hours though.

or cover them with blankets to hold the heat in? or turn the heat on if you have a gas furnace?
