NY chicken lover!!!!

Quick question... I hope it doesn't seem like a dumb one..When you can the chicken, do you cook it before you can it or does it cook fully during the canning process? I know that it has to be canned in the pressure can, but was wondering if it was put in raw or cooked?

Yout can raw pack it and then put it in the pressure canner. I add spices to it to add flavor. You can also leave the bones in the legs as well. I've canned lots of chicken am venison. Comes out great.

So Dh and I got out of 10 roos done in 2 hours. The escapee will be done tonight. Lots of drama in the big coop. Duke is doing his best to keep the fighting to a minimum. My yard is quiet now without all the crowing. It's getting brutal out there and my asthma is not happy. Time for a nap!

Hi Luv, just checked my Ball Blue book and it looks like you can do a raw pack or a hot pack, but the strange thing is they seem to take the same amount of time at the same pressure. Go figure.

Yes I am looking at the Brinsea... but which one??? I want the small one. 12 eggs I think but there are still 2 different models.
I am at the age where I and all my friends are suffering the empty nest syndrome, and everyone has developed hobbies they never had before... I have a friend who hikes mountains every weekend, collecting summit patches, another friend who travels every weekend in her RV. Another who has started plastic surgery to beat back time.
I am the only crazy chicken lady, so there is no incubator to borrow. You all are the closest I have to "farmie" friends.
So which Brinsea???

I have the Eco 20 with turner love it !! It holds about 2 doz. eggs depending on the size of the egg

It would probably hatch stones !! I also have a Genisis 1588, with a turner. It hatches really well too, but you have to be vigilant about the humidity, because it fluctuates so much. Plus I only use it in for early spring hatches, because it's very sensitive to room temps
