Here is the infamous Trouble I have been talking about - young cockerel ....

Great feathering on his feet - not tame and not fond of having his picture taken.... he could do with longer tail feathers, but he is already trying to mount the most calm hens.

The above was the first picture - then I kind of herded him toward the coop to get the closer ones - told you he was not so keen on his picture being taken.

Horsekeeper responded to my request for a rooster and some hatching eggs. I just wanted a rooster to look after my hens and some eggs for my broody to hatch since last year she wasn't giving up until she had some chicks! I'm a little concerned about the heat but she is happily sitting on her new eggs. Here's the rooster and of course I had to get a pullet to keep him company while everyone adjusts.

OK this is my questionable bantam "baby" Iknow the oother 2 are roos one is super sweet but the other one will be lucky if i ddon't make him into a fried nugget by the end of the week

Is this one from one of MJ's eggs? So cute! My first guess would be a little hen, but then the little red waddles are trowing me off.

Yes, the are Marans. I think the rooster is a cross, I'm not that good at the genetics yet.

nope that is one of Lady Lola's eggs (sizzle) that is why i was trying to figure out who the poppa might be, definitely think it is MJ's brother. LOVE LOVE LOVE "her" coloring, so sweet, and love the little mohawk lol

With that coloring I'm sure that it was MJ's brother..Bubba J... Really regret selling him. He was such a good boy! Love the mohawk too!

I think his mom is either Freckles, the cuckoo marans or Annie, the golden cuckoo and his dad is Ivan, the Blue Copper. He has Ivan's nice fluffy butt He is most likely 100% marans, but two different color varieties.

we had fun with fake sparring for about a 1/2 hour

It was hot today ..boy did i sweat !
I spent the afternoon outside ....I feel like I have a slight sunburn on my back
Did some fun stuff transplanted plants for hanging baskets , or pots
filled in chicken bathing holes , dug up weeds in the garden .
Raked up grass clippings with the lawn rake ...one little chicken went along for the riide with me ..She is so timid ...even the smaller babies pick on her .
If I go in the pen when she is roosting ..she will cuddle with me or
fly up to my shoulder
