NY chicken lover!!!!

Where are you located? I'd love to look at a couple more hens. Question about your handicapped girl, butter. What are you going to do with her? I have a handicapped bird who doesn't walk very well it's a Cochin and I love the bird but at seven weeks how viable is is he going to be? It's a rooster and I can't keep roosters but then I was wondering maybe he won't crow if he can't stand ... but will he get picked on by the girls? I feel so badly for them when they're hurt. Any advice?
Im in Jordan ..
I will keep Butter ..I think her handicap is mental ....or she is just a very afraid bird ..very...nervous ..so she doesnt get much to eat ..I just make sure she gets food a couple times a day .
Your Little Roo ...is he in pain ? then he should be put down ...
I would wait & see ...if he isnt in pain ..
he will probably crow though ..you can get no crow collars
Is he picked on now ? then he may not be picked on .
.I dont think they have established a pecking order yet it is too early ..
You should be able to tell more as they get older whether he will be or not ..

He doesn't seem to be in any pain. He just wobbles. He can eat and get around...but not like the others. I used to live in buffalo....now I am in the lower Hudson area.Further away....and a bit far to get a chicken. I am stumped by what to do about my Cochin roo. I have a video of him and would like to post it but I'm not sure how. Anyway, good luck with your butter.

It's not a YouTube video. Just a regular one I took from my phone. I see you can paste from YouTube or Vimeo. Not sure how to translate that.
I upload it directly to youtube from my phone..( can be done on WIFI) I get a email & link to the video from youTube
Which I access on my computer then copy & paste the URL into the box
Or email the video to myself ...

Well it turns out Raccoons dont like
contemporary music ...
They have been in my garden eating my corn at night ...UGH ..
It isnt even completely grown yet ...knocking over my beans & tomatoes ..
So last night I put a radio out there ...no coon sign today ..
I also weed wacked behind the garden today ...it was getting over grown there ...a great place to hide out ...

Morning all. Busy at work so haven't been on. All is well here. No more bear visits for now. Still working on the boards. Babies are getting big. I'm thinking that all of them (silkies) are pullets and they look really good. I may actually have some available this coming year! Another hot day today. Off to the pharm.

Gramma that is too bad about the coons. They know when corn is ready, my neighbor lost his whole crop last year, and he had a lot. Good to know about their taste in music.

Ugh, one of the Valentines hatched pullets is going broody, naked chest, puffed growling and all. They only started laying the last month! Welsummer/Partridge Rock cross. Tossed her in the Eglu of Shame with a spare roo to break her. No more babies! And we will be going on a trip later this month, don't want anyone having to deal with a broody. Nice to know that I will have a broody next year though.

Just keep pulling any egg she gets on. I have an Ee broody I think.

I've two marans on eggs, a Del and a C.Rock.

If I had more marans and Dels I'd not let them sit, but I need to bring their numbers up. I panicked when DW got sick and Now I need to replace the ones I sold.

So just pull her eggs and take her out of the nest box each time your out there.
