Got five new Red Stars yesterday (18 wks old) and they were laying already today!

Ewww. Found a tick on my chicken today.. under her eye! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.. Ya gotta be addicted to put up with pulling ticks off eyelids! Yucky.. Yucky!

My broody hen is so funny when she's doing her frantic 'run around the yard to get everything done before someone takes my eggs!!'. Thankfully, so far Ms. Obese Brahma has not yet pushed her off the nest and stomped on the eggs.

Too many stomped eggs, and Ms. Obese Brahma would soon be Ms. Large Roaster.

One of our hens didn't come back to the coop last few nights but we saw her during the day so this afternoon when we saw her we kind of followed her she kept looping around and then finally ducked into this spot by this dead tree that has vines growing up the side and there she is sitting on her nest ( I am assuming eggs under her) I didn't want to bother her and she didn't get up again so tomorrow I will see how many she is sitting on...

Speckled Sussex but the I don't know if they are fertile my roo is only 5 months old and he is a splash orpington...

Couple of things, I've been super busy getting STUFF organized for summer, vacation and life in general:

1. I have some chicks that hatched on 7/17 (13 ?) mixed bag of pure Sussex, Australorp/Cochin & EE available - make an offer.

Just to add to my silly list I need a certified electrican and overhead door installer. 2 weeks ago our house was hit nearby by lightening and fried our big barn light, 4 garage door opener units and a few other misc things. Need quotes and then to get them fixed. Local people only. Sorry.

And, both of our cats have bladder infections. Vet gave them each an injection of antibiotics on 8/27, NOT WORKING. Brought them back to the vet today. UGH> I would love a nice, boring life.
