Cardboard to help absorb moisture

I forgot about the cardboard. I've been meaning to buy a shredder for junk paper. Oh and would wood ashes be good to toss in there? I have a square for dusting. Perhaps the wood shavings should go in there?
wood ashes should be fine ...would dry it out ...and should keep the mites , etc at bay
I wouldnt put cardboard or junk paper in the coop ...mine would peck at & eat the cardboard ..
if junk paper sticks out visually ....I would think they would eat that too

I send my junk paper and cardboard through the wood chipper as I'm doing the wood.

my flock has tasted it once or twice but once they did and decided it was yuck they leave it. That was my concern with the pine pellets since they look like the food but same as the cardboard they only tasted it.

I meant in the run. I do use it in the garden and they don't seem to bother it much. Unless it gets wet and easy for them to tear up to get at the grubs and slugs underneath I think.

Well we set the rat snap trap tonight and....caught a mouse. Pretty sure it's not a mouse doing the tunneling though...

Happy New Year... My new years resolution, to raise more chickens, hatch eggs, find a girlfriend for my turkey Kurt, and build at lease two more coops in the spring.
