NY chicken lover!!!!

For watering this year I have 5 gallon buckets w horizontal nipples and small aquarium heaters. All but one are inside the coop and I haven't had any trouble with them freezing. I don't have heat for the goose water so they have a 5 gallon bucket that I smash the top ice & add hot water to daily. It's out of the wind which seems to help. Monday I had to bring the bucket inside to thaw & replaced it with a temporary bucket. In past years I've used the white & red waterers, rotating them inside to thaw and then tried heated bases of a couple different models. Happiest with the bucket/nipple system tho.

I'm so jealous of all of you with excess egg issues. I'd come buy some from you if you were closer... I have been getting one, rarely two a day for a couple months now (no supplemental light). Today I haven't gotten any yet... :(
YUM, now I want to make all of these, but I have only 1 sad little egg!!!!

You are ALL awesome! Everyone wants to provide me with eggs! I'm right in Tully. @Glasshen is right down the road from me, so I'll probably stop by and buy some eggs from her! Thank you all!!

nope no egg sign . Hubby said not until we have farm insurance. He's afraid our insurance company will catch us since they know we have chickens way beyond 4. I wish I had more people to buy them though. That's a lot of money.

A friend of mine has a sign outside that says farm eggs for a small donation. That way the people are simply donating towards the feed bill. If someone stops that can't afford, she will give them some anyway,

I do have eggs. I usually donate them to families at church or sell to folks at church and donate the money to India but I haven't been in a couple of weeks being sick and all.

I too hate selling eggs, but we do what we must do I guess.

What are you using for your nipple waterers to heat them? I have an aquarium heater in the buckets and it keeps the water unfrozen but I can't keep the nipples from freezing.

Got the chickens pretty well set up with plenty of good warm water and feed. I'm having a tonsillectomy this afternoon and I tried to get as much done so it's easier for my DH to watch the chickens.

I know getting tonsils out as an adult can be a difficult thing to go through...wish me luck!!

Good luck! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
