HA ! then there is no hope for my home cooking being as good as takeout.

A friend of mine has a sign outside that says farm eggs for a small donation. That way the people are simply donating towards the feed bill. If someone stops that can't afford, she will give them some anyway,

That's a really nice thing to do. I couldn't afford to give the eggs away- i did buy cartons @ 39 c each and my feed runs $100 a week. I was selling about $20 eggs a week until they decided to stop laying.

I did have someone steal eggs and produce last fall.

I see a lot of vegetable farmers in my work- the vast majority have added security cameras to their stands. It's depressing.

We visit farm stands all over our area. Like you said the security cameras are everywhere now. Its horrible, people use the money from the stand to restock their homes. We have 3 stands we go to weekly once they open. Best potatoes we have found at 1, best beets and apples at another and the 3rd always has a big selection of stuff.

This year we are going to sell our excess as well as eggs. No camera though. To buy you must come to the door.

That is depressing. I'm only selling to family and friends for $2/dozen. I'd like them to break the habit of store bought eggs just because they're convenient, so I don't mind selling them for less than the store. Feed is expensive and the little bit of cash helps me offset costs. I'm working on developing a disclaimer for labeling my cartons and then advertising. The disclaimer will include the benefits of local-small-farm-fresh vs. commercial-farm eggs. I'm keeping track of expenses and incomes even though I won't be in full swing as Pleasant Row until I get my garden going. 2016 should be a good year.

Gramma, the littlest chicks could choose other unused roosts that are warmer, but they don't. I sealed up some stuff so the spot they chose should be warmer now.

I drew up plans to renovate one my barns. I'm guessing I will need to save $30,000 to accomplish this dream. The plans for the other barn are probably closer to $50,000. It's too bad PowerBall odds are so awful. The fun part of the dream is that it would include a large greenhouse, three separate chicken pens, a root cellar, and lots of equipment storage.

DH cut down 1 of 6 large trees that need to be cleared for my garden. I will be battling roots and rocks for the entire spring/summer, but it will be worth it. I'm starting with 50' x 50' and by 2018 hope to have up to 1/4 acre planted.

So, what are your dream plans? Rabbits for chickengirl15?

why do you hate selling eggs ?
I'm insecure and what if they find fault? I just get nervous.

DW has a recipe from a friend who is Puerto Rican. Plus one I think from a friend from Ghana. It's all about the seasonings. Choose the right rice, they are not all the same. Use high heat and cook it fast. Notice they don't take more than a minute in the Wok.

I also suspect they're using "peanut oil" and not vegetable oil.

I said to DW the other day while watching another cooking show that there are TWO things I noticed about these cooks. 1. they use BUTTER, not margarine. B. they use Olive oil, not vegetable oil. III. They use Salt and Pepper.

Visit Asian and other type shops to buy smaller and cheaper portions of the seasonings you'll need. Seasoning do have a shelf life so don't buy more than you'll use quickly. You can also order these spices online.

I nearly forgot. Get a video of "Daisy Cooks" or find her online. Perhaps Ming would have a video of how to cook that rice too.
