NY chicken lover!!!!

We don't find cleaning a chore. We have a "pooper scooper" and we pick up frequently and then add new hay. Put the hay with poop in a 5 gallon pail and empty frequently on to our flower garden.
Works fine. Regards, Aria

Rancher, if it is anything like our dog pooper scooper, it has a "reservoir" at the back where the poop collects and has "fingers" at the front to scoop. It is an art to use it effectively, but it does work well.

How many chickens do you have and how what do you use for a pooper scooper that doesn't allow the poop to fall through?

Have a nice day folks,

Rancher

The scooper is solid $9.00 and works and the poop does NOT FALL through. Pick up and put in 5 gallon bucket with some hay of course. We have 23 Silkie Chickens. Regards, Aria

Hey capital region folks.. Anyone know if there's an official and free sissy way of sending off trapped wildlife that does not involve ME shooting/drowning/etc? Or do I need to call my pest control guy and pay him? I'm hoping to trap a skunk or two that have been making their way into my coop - have shored up the coop and added the traps (they have not harmed any chickens yet, just have been eating the chicken feed). But not sure what to do when I trap them!

DH is clueless - he wants to just relocate them elsewhere on our property. ROFL. That will work as well as relocating one of my cats - take them no time at all to get back. Pretty sure it's illegal to drive them five miles away and drop them off, so that's out. And who wants to do that with a skunk?

And no, neither one of us will shoot them and we certainly aren't drowning them. Yes, we are big sissy wusses.. Will animal control come out, you think? I do have a pest guy that does nuisance wildlife so he's the backup plan. We've had skunks here for a while and they've existed peacefully with the chickens and the cats, but I draw the line at them being IN the coop like last night.

What type of poop scooper are we talking about that cost $9?

I have an incubator full of Black Copper Marans, anyone interested? I live 6 miles south of Cazenovia. Email me for me for more info or go to my Website under construction:
fossilrockfarm.com but don't try to contact me through the FRF website, I don't think it works yet. $6 each, straight run.
