NY chicken lover!!!!

@rancher hicks it's my Catskill Homesteaders that laid those eggs, but they're not that pink. The lighting made them more "colorful"! :)
Here's a more true representation:

Just caught up. Hi everyone. Rained all day today. It was my birthday. Gramma, I'm sorry for the loss of Budgie and Bobby. Maybe they ate something bad. Bakersdozen, I'm glad your husband is recovering well. Congratulations to everyone with new chicks; Pyxis, those were very nice photos. Mine usually look very blurry. They don't keep still long enough for me to get a decent photo. Myfivegirls, I love that pic of eggs. Lovely colors. Welcome, mountaintop. I hope I didn't forget anyone. Oooh, congrats on the new farm status chicken girl!,

I had Ag & Markets out to my house last year & they tested 18 birds. Testing is super easy and free. The challenge is that u have to agree to only buy eggs or birds from other NPIP certified flocks. If u slip up, it just mean ur cert is not valid & u need to be retested. The cert makes shipping eggs & chicks out of state legal (tho no one at the PO really checks) and for showing u need either NPIP cert or a recent testing of ur birds for pylorrum. I think some shows are set up for testing on site. Ag & markets can test your flock for other things per your request, but I believe there are extra fees for that.
That's good to know. So if you keep everything in house nothing to worry about. I don't really want to sell any eggs, but have had a few inquires. Would rather be a little further ahead in breeding them first than haven't started yet myself....
Yeah, they obviously don't check, some on here sell all over the US without it.

Happy Birthday!

Devona, happy birthday!!
Well, I just accidentally bought another 50# of oyster shells when I meant to get grit. Second time in a month. I now have 150# of oyster shells and STILL no grit. Lol With four chickens I bet I won't need to buy oyster shells for a couple years...

Lol. Chickens that have outside access get all the 'grit' they need. I've found little stones mostly, small nuts and bolts, choke cherry pits etc in their crops. In Africa ostriches sometimes have diamonds in their crops!!
