NY chicken lover!!!!

Wow. I guess that I haven't checked in for a while..over 200 posts. Don't think that I will be able to read them all to catch up...So I'm sorry if I have missed any thing important. Things here have been busy. My incubators are due to hatch in about 4 days or so. One has some of my girls eggs the other has some duck eggs. Been busy working lately and DH has been home this week on vacation..

The only thing that is really eggciting is that my sister just hatched a new chick... A pullet this morning clocking in at a whopping 6lbs 14oz. Love being an Aunt again...

SOP is the goal of the person for the silkies. Is there even an SOP for them? All I know is they are funny looking and I don't think my dog would agree it's a chicken so he might eat them. My dogs both know that feathered things are friends not snacks and a silkie is more fuzzy.

PharmChick had a silkie flock, think blue?

First chick hatched under the broody today! 2 more pipped tonight. Over-achievers, hatch day is Saturday. Don't expect the incubator eggs to hatch early after the troubles they went through. Enjoying the HovaBator 1588.

Congrats Auntie Luv!

Yes, spring is baby season! Congrats luv! And congrats on your over achievers, lapeerian! Purpletie, you had me cracking up with your Kung fu silkie! I had such a visual with that. Here are some unfinished coop pics. The back and two sides are on. The front will have a double door, the floor will be two plastic trays sitting on some hardware cloth, the roof will be asphalt shingles over plywood, I think. I gave up on the window idea, but as you can see, windows aren't necessary.
