I had one spitz go broody - I cherry picked some dark eggs and put 10 !!!! under her - she let me check for new eggs each day with only a slight puff - and hatched out 7! The day they were hatching was the ONLY time she tried to attack me ! What a good momma ! That is how I knew they were pipping out.

Mine are molting too...feathers everywhere in the coop .. However to look at them you wouldnt know it ...They dont really look that different .. EXCEPT MY ROOSTER ...HA HA ..Mr 2 Feather With Fermented food ...their molt is never excessive

at least your Mr has 2 feathers on his fanny. Of 3 boys not one has a tail to speak of. The only way to know my 2 gold spitzhauben apart is the zip tie color. They look sad.

I made my own ...Get a egg box from tops ..Free ...Cut off the ends.. tape up the sides..slides right into the bag

I am sometimes amazed at what people will invent and then try to sell for big dollars. I hope you did something nice with that $9 you just saved yourself.

I have Lavender EE/Amer crosses so I'm looking to get more of them. I did just give away two but kept a Blue and Lavnder pullet. I figure what I don't want someone will take. BUT they have to take the rooster chicks with the lot. Too I'm hoping for more marans but darned if that rooster will accommodate me.

The Del rooster goes crazy on the girls in the morning but the Maran rooster did not. I wonder if it would help if I put him by himself for a time.

I've got another broody right now too. Seems the year of the broody over here, more days with broody chickens than w/o in 2016.

Me too ..the year of the broody ...one baby just hatched ..
I put the remaining 2 eggs in the incubator to see if they will hatch also
.One chicken (TiTi) has been broody 3 times

Well you're just up off of Rt 81. Didn't check how many hours to get there. How far from Binghamton are you? I might want to make a two day affair of it. See the sites and all that. Stay at a B&B or hotel. Know what I mean.
