NY chicken lover!!!!

Hello all! How is the start of this spring treating you? I know my chickens and guineas are happy; they are everywhere!!

I was wondering if there may be anyone "near to" the Watkins Glen area that may have a few hens that they would consider getting rid of/selling? I have come to learn that of the 6 Silkies I have out there, FIVE of them are roosters. My poor little hen is not going to fare well, with those odds (the abuse has already started). I need some hens to distract them.

I have an Araucana rooster who, thankfully, hangs with the guineas. My chickens are not quite a year old and, apparently, pretty frisky!! lolI am looking to expand my flock out of the fluffy and cute and into the meat and egg area. I am willing to drive some, but not hours.

If you have anything that you think might help my hen out, please send me a message. She will be sure to send Thank You cards at a later date.

Phil, I have heard some people on message boards also say that DH can stand for Dumb Husband.......... I of course would never say that!!!!!
<-------------- running to hide before the men on this board throw freshly laid eggs at her:p (haha!)

Okay its day 5, and a lucky day at that! I think should candle tonight. I read on another thread that pieces of card board tubes from paper towels can make great spacers. I'll have to file that for when I hatch normal size eggs. Also a bluish white light (rather than a yellowish light) makes candling easier. I'm wondering what I'm using.
Wish me luck
Joanne

I use a led flashlight that they are giving away free at harbor freight. I keep getting coupons for them and have picked up several. It is real bright and works good.

I asked people here at work what DH meant and the suggestions they had were darling husband and d*@% head.

That was why I finally asked.

I am going to be out of town this weekend so I have to leave the chickens in a fenced area. With this beautiful weather they are going to be bummed!!

riqui1 - just checked Google Maps and your are over 3 hrs away - darn! It is springtime and springtime = baby chick time! Maybe some little fluffers should come live with you!

They are for sale all over around here. Good luck!
