NY chicken lover!!!!

Got the cemani run covered today so that's one before winter chore done. However I somehow managed to buy plastic that was two feet shorter than the run, lol, so I'm going to have to solve that problem. I'm sure I have more plastic somewhere, it's just a matter of finding it.

Still have a ton more to do though, and barely any time to do it.

So I was lost as to where my cats were pooping. I'm not sure if I should be happy or disgusted. There is an old flower garden by my barn. The cats use it as a litter box. Great it's not all over my yard. However, I now know why I couldn't find it. THE NASTY YUCKY CHICKENS ARE EATING THE POO!!!@

My chickens dust bathe sometimes where the cat goes to the bathroom ..

Feeling like, am I ever going to get the hang of this?!?

You cant control everything ..esp Predators ..and everything likes chickens ...
I use these things to learn how I can better protect them. Almost Everyone loses some to Predators

do i have to worry about this hawk dick coming back? i guess i'll be researching this more. I like to let my guys free range but the unpredictable terror might be too much for me to handle emotionally.

it depends ...on weather it can find a easier meal . Probably
I hang dangly moving things around ..Wind chimes , wind socks , those twirly things on a stick - pinwheels.
Some try a plastic owl ?
If you are not home I would leave them in the covered fence area ...let them out when you come home ...
if it is dark they might still come out if a light is on out there..when mine have been in all day they will come out at night

Saw a hawk yesterday so I'll be going out and checking. I hate to say it but as you know I "mark" for foxes and whatever so I go out there a lot at my age.
