I've got babies! e

I got 2 brahma, 1 EE, 2 barred rocks, and 5 i-don't-know-whats. They are pale yellow with small black dots - one on the head, each wing, and either side of the tail. The list given was Brahma, Ameraucana (was def EE tho), RIR, and Barred Rock. Any ideas?

Also, with the warm weather, we tapped 6 trees, and got 11 gallons of sap already. 

And a question: wood ash is a recommended ingredient in a dust bath. Most of my ash comes from locust trees. Is it safe to use or do I need to make it with something else?

Not sure about the yellow chicks with spots, could be anything if they're mixed.

I've had some "Life" happening here in balmy Binghamton, so I have been M.I.A. from this and other internet contacts for too long. I'm over a hundred pages behind on this list alone!

[Long story short, I'm a disabled veteran with Parkinson's. I have an old, dear friend who is my housemate and helper; she was hospitalized recently and has the beginning stages of congestive heart failure. It runs in her family. Anyhow, dealing with the fallout and life changes that go with that diagnosis has kind of knocked both of us off the rails for the last couple of months.] ***If you can spare a prayer or a good thought for us as you go about your day, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Please forgive me if I ask a redundant question or such as I am just jumping back in where we are now and may read the back issues (or not).

I'm still hoping like anything to make it to Chickenstock - goodness knows, I need a mental health break. :cd

Congrats! Did they come in from a hatchery or are these the ones you hatched? Sounds like they are just mixes if they're from the ones you hatched, since I know you said mixes were possible

Also, your barred rocks are possibly black sex links, since I know that was on your possibilities mix too. If so, those with a head spot are males.

These are the ones we hatched. I was kind of hoping someone might know the mix. They don't have beards and they don't have fluffy feet, but they aren't black, and definitely not pure RIR.. So I'm just confused.

I agree the black ones are probably male black sex links - white spot on head, wingtips, and all over their bellies.

Sometimes yellow chicks with black patches end up splash. Maybe EE? As they fluff you may notice they do look like rir.

Yellows could be rir mixes or comets ..Give it a few days sometimes the color changes as their feather come in ..
My yellows were 2 comets and white chicken ..the biggest yellow was a roo

They are all fluffed up now, but still very pale yellow. I'm thinking they are rir x but with what? I thought puffy cheeks and fluffy feet were dominant traits. I could be wrong tho, tbh I usually am.

Edit: comets are rir x white leghorn? WL was not on the list of possible Xs.. Maybe I'll just have to wait til their feathers come in.
