NY chicken lover!!!!

Sorry to here about your rooster! I hope you get another one like him. Haven't talked to you in a while. Do you still have the Cochins you hatched from my eggs years ago? I still owe you more eggs if I recall. Just thought I'd inform you I have them again. I only have two hens so it takes a while for egg numbers to accumulate but if you want some I'll still give you the ones I owe you.
I am glad to hear you are back!! Would always love eggs- I do have all of the chickens still that I hatched from you- including the little buff bantam. :)

Well I was getting 2 eggs a day the last week and a half from them but this past week they slowed down to one every other day. I only got to set 4 eggs this week. Once the pick up again I'll send you all I can save within a week.

Howdy from southern NY. I'm from Long Island and plan on getting chickens in the near future. Just doing some research before diving right in. Our town is a bit tight with ordinances. They allow a maximum of 6 hens, roosters are with special permits only I believe. This suits me fine since I'm new at this and planned on starting with 4 hens. I'll keep digging through the site, hopefully find all the answers I'm looking for. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Welcome!
I did pretty much the same thing, and even hanging out with a friend who had chickens on her hobby farm didn't push me over the edge, until... My research revealed some breeds lay blue eggs. Blue eggs?!? I had to see that for myself! I had my first four Ameraucanas within a month
Everyone has their own story of how we got hooked, good luck & remember chickens are "pets who pay rent"!

hi! my daughter is hoping to get some started pullets, especially Ameraucas and Marans.
She is located near Fultonville,NY. I've been trying to find out where your chickenstock/swap
is located and when. it happens
Thank you
Deb

i have both breeds and chickenstock is in Harpursville this year. Message me for details on the pullets and someone (@Gramma Chick) can post the chickenstock link.

Anybody have some good ideas for a brooder to keep in the house. I wanna build it though. I got a bunch of scrap wood here at work that I'll grab if I can come up with a fairly simple design. I want it to be easy to clean though and have plenty of room. I was hoping to come up with a bottom that detached from the rest of the brooder

From wny here. Recently had a tragedy happen to my hens and looking to replace a couple with either marans or welsummer. Would love to add some nice dark eggs to the carton. Does anyone breed them around here? Or any other breeds that lay really dark brown eggs?

I know Metella has Marans and she may have Wellies too, other than her I don't know.
