NY chicken lover!!!!

I wanted to share my Marans eggs. A current picture here. They are laying lighter now as we get closer to fall. But, I am actually very happy with how they lay at the start of the Season!

Nice - I have hens at 3 and 4 years old that are still laying about that level of darkness that you show - even lighter - they are still darker than the classic brown farmer's egg :) So I'm very happy with my Marans girls. Glad you like yours too !

Hello fellow New Yorkers!
It doesn't seem as if this thread has been active for a long time, but hoping someone will see this. I am in Otsego County, NY and looking to add (only 2 or 3) Ameraucanas to my group of girls. I love those blue eggs! I am not so comfortable with having chicks shipped to me, so am looking for someplace reputable within driving distance. Anyone out there know of someplace?? Would appreciate any and all input..:)

This thread is active and gets posts daily. The last post was early this afternoon. I think a member or two in here has Ameraucanas.

Thank You Pyxis! I am new to the board and am still finding my way around. The last post I saw was I think from 2009, who knows where I was, lol. I'm working on navigating the site, I love this board. Thank you for the reply, hoping someone is out there and reads this :)

Hope you find what you're looking for! If I'm not mistaken, I think someone has wheatens and blue wheatens in here.

These are great! I've never had a Marans, or seen their eggs in person - would be a great addition for a multicolored eggbox - I love the really dark little sized one top right, makes me think of chocolate eggs at Easter.

Welcome Chrissy - I think sometimes when I find a new thread it just brings up as a highlight the initial post that started the thread, and, as you found, often it was years ago. I believe members of this group have a 'Chickenstock' event in the works, where people in the group get together, have a potluck etc I wasn't able to make it to the one in the spring, but know that lots of chicks and fertilized eggs for hatching changed hands. The initial thread is something like NY Chickenstock 2017 - if you go to most recent posts, they will be about the one coming up soon. Hope someone can help you find your new chickens.

Thank you. I've been working on good color. This is the lightest they will be all year but still they come out a beautiful color. In the Spring they are all a really nice chocolate color.
