NY chicken lover!!!!

Hubby found one that was left outside overnight. Very cold but still moving and cheeping.
As I watch it, is see lice/mites/creepy crawlers in the down. Sooo want to give it a bath and go shower myself. What can I treat itty bitty chicks with?
BYC app seems to be having issues this morning as well.
Diluted Cat Shampoo

Hello all, just want to introduce myself as a new member here. I've lived in Upstate New York my entire life, near the shores of Lake Ontario in northern Oswego/Cayuga counties. I currently have a new batch of Barred Rocks that I look forward to having clean all these ticks off my property!
Welcome ! My chickens do well with this well at my house

If the day old chick has them that badly already, you must have a pretty bad infestation :( I would dust all your birds, including the chicks, with Sevin dust or permethrin (not permethrin if you have cats since permethrin WILL kill them) and also I would treat them with ivermectin for a double whammy (don't ivermectin the chicks, only the adults). Then you'll want to clean out all the coops and dust them down really well too. If you can use permethrin, Gordon's spray is really good for that purpose. If not, Sevin will work.

Then you'll need to repeat it all again in ten days to get the new ones that have hatched. You also might want to put Sevin/Permethrin in their dust bathing spots, so that they'll also be treating themselves when they dust bathe.
Thank you! My cats are indoor only. Won't be able to do the dust bath spots, because those are random. Most recent spot they seem to enjoy is next to the bees. Because of bees, may start with ivermectin first.

permethrin? You have it listed 3 times ? Auto Correct ?

I found this - Only use treatments that are licensed for cats, as they do not contain a toxic level of permethrin as some canine spot-on treatments may contain. ... Exposure to even small quantities of concentrated permethrin can cause severe and fatal poisoning in cats.

So cat shampoo would be okay as it would have lower levels of it

Not a typo or autocorrect, permethrin is very toxic to cats. Even very small quantities of it will make them very sick and can be fatal. The stuff that you posted said that too, I colored it. A shampoo that's safe for cats should have NO permethrin. You do not want any amount of permethrin near cats.

Funny that they both come from Chrysanthemum Flowers but one is toxic
Pyrethrins is the one that is in Cat Shampoo so that should be okay to be used on the chicks or near cats
Thank you for clarifying..I thought you meant something different the 1st time you used the word

Hi! Just popping in from the Texas and Hurricane threads to share a laugh. Just on our news was a story about a guy living in Houston who works for the local Omni hotel. He was wading around his neighborhood taking pictures of the 4-8 foot deep water covering roads and homes all around him. Told the newscaster he was sending the pictures to his bosses in New York to explain why he couldn't get into his office. Seems they thought he was exaggerating his difficulties.

Really!? Y'all DO get news about places other than NY up there, right?

I'm just pulling your legs. I know you folks aren't those folks. But I did find it funny.

I have some free chicks if anyone wants them. One is a salmon faverolle cockerel. The other two are white show girls but have single combs. Not sure of sex on them but I am thinking one might have be a cockerel and one might be a pullet. They are free and I am NPIP so if you pay shipping, I can mail them.
