NY chicken lover!!!!

Granda Ma...do you have any suggestions on what we can do to encourage the Dr. Whitings NOT to poop on the Storage Bins? We are thinking and thinking...perhaps move the Bins out?

Fish Farm: We have NOT decided what to do?????? They are beautiful birds and lay and lay EXTRA LARGE BLUE EGGS.

Grandma, I wrote this before I read yours. They have been going
outside. But it has been raining and we do leave the door open, but they do not go out when it rains. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Yes they are larger birds. And yes we had Silkies. Our Silkies spoiled us I guess. They were very clean and caused us no problems. But
they do not lay frequently and lay tiny eggs. Regards, Aria

Grandma, Are you saying that most all Breeds are Messy> we have only had Silkies and found them to be clean.

FishMt....We have had only Silkies....and they are so clean.
Now it is difficult to experience these beautiful birds...that are
so MESSY.

Not sure what we will do. Probably clean more often. How do you deal with them? Just go with the flow? Or Clean Every day or?
Need some encouragement or suggestions? Thanks Aria

I have found all my birds messy - large and bantam. I would definitely move the feed bins out if it's bothering you that they poop on them.
I don't know what your set-up is like, but mine have coops within a barn - so they can spread the poop far and wide. I remove 'coop poop' about every 3rd day, but I only rake over the barn floor straw weekly and put down fresh straw as needed.
If it's of any encouragement, chickens are clean compared to rabbits..who pee up the walls! ;)

@Aria i clean often. I keep a bucket of bleach water in my barn but I also breed, hatch, and sell silkies so I have to keep things clean and sanitary. I enjoy cleaning so everyday picking is how I keep up. Shavings I find are the easiest and keep the coops and birds cleaner. Use to use hay but the poop just lays on top and it gets stuck to the birds. Ick!
