NY chicken lover!!!!

I know sick birds should be quarantined, I took it to the vet. They weren't sick til they got hypothermic sleeping outside. They are fully feathered adult birds. Vet told me sometimes unusual things just happen. Not everything is always by the book. Go figure it happened to me.

I won't be having any issues with things getting in my coop thru the run. My run is covered with galvanized small mesh panels and the whole run is made of the same thing. Needed heavy duty and tight cause I live out in the middle of no where. Hence why I opt to leave it open. Have had chickens a long time in this set up and have not lost one to a predator...yet.

I’ve seen her enclousures. Fort Knox for sure!!

So confused how to get pictures in here now, doesn't load like they used to. These idiots sleep out in the pine trees now instead of going in the coop. The one is the AC hen with a naked back and head from the AC rooster loving on her too much. I give up moving them into the coop anymore. This picture was taken Friday morning, when it was bitter cold. They were hiding out of the wind.

This is *most* of the Spitz in one picture. Need them to go. Only ones in this picture I would keep is the Colombian Wyandotte hen and the RIR pullet.

I wonder if there is a problem with the coop situation when they won't go in. I had one BR hen that hid somewhere every night. Seems she was being picked on. She had a scarred back, so I posted to CL and gave her away. I don't like my chickens to suffer. Another took to not going in staying in the run and foolishly I didn't realize there was a problem and kept tossing her in at night. One morning she was dead. I suspect it was the rooster as he had attacked me more than once. I learned a hard lesson.

Hello everyone. I haven’t been on much lately. I can’t catch up so I just want to say I hope everyone is well. Hello to any newbies too. Things were going great for a while. I really had no issues with predators.... and then the bear came. He took out my fencing and some small coops. Did not get many chickens but did a whole lot of damage. More then I could fix right away. Then the fox and coyotes started coming and almost everyone in my house got coxsackie virus. Then my washer broke and my cat had to be put down because of cancer all in the same week. Long story short I sold my chickens to pay for everything with my cat and the work my husband missed. Also because at that moment I could not fix the damage from the bear and I did not want to risk my birds suffering. The good news is that my husband got a much better paying job and my flock is not to far away living .. no kidding... at a mansion. Their new owners have an 8000 sqft house own the entire block/street as well as multiple sporting good stores. They are pampered beyond belief. I miss them but now buy eggs from someone else I sold chickens to in the past. They said they would give me some chickens back if I want when I’m ready. Boy do I miss my chickens but we visit them and see pictures every day. We have not decided on weather we will be getting more this winter or not. First things first is to fix up my coops and pens. Hope everyones coops stay safe and warm.
