I was surprised by the white ones comb .
I expected a crest ..

We had a Silkie pullet die yesterday. My daughter is devastated. I bought corid, vetrx, nutridench, and the packets of probiotics at TSC after work today.
Sorry to hear that ..
Look for Symptoms in the others ..before treating them
Many times when they die young they had a internal problem..
in which everything was not quite right .
Explain to your daughter that sometimes they are born with problems ..
As she died quite quickly ..she didnt suffer long .
Give it a little funeral

Thanks. Today is funeral day as long as the grounds not too frozen. Everyone else seems fine, except for one who’s been a bit puffed up but maybe she’s just cold? She’s a NH red. The other silkies seem fine. My Australorp sneezed once last night but I’d just put a fresh bag of shavings down. Ugh i just don’t know.

Gramma Chick....our flock have stopped laying. Some say it is the change in time? WOW...had to purchase eggs. We miss the Dr. Whitings Eggs...BUT NOT THE MESS THEY MADE IN OUR COOP...TOO BIG A PRICE TO PAY FOR EGGS. HA HA. Regards, Aria

Your silver (white & black) roo has the correct comb, but is a little short on crest. I hatched a hen this year like that too. Seems the perfect spitz crest (forward sweeping Mohawk) requires heterozygous genes, a balance between super poofy & no crest. Same for gold spangled (the one ur calling brown). The perfect spitz crest is tough to find in this country. That's why people have been importing them from Europe.

Your birds look healthy & happy!

Grandma, They started laying...one a day from 7 chickens. We have old hens too. Two a day would be fine for us.

There is an article on Dr. Tim Whiting in the December 2017 January 2018 Field and Stream. Quite an article. I guess these chickens are making money for him. He is a multimillionare. And his chicken establishment and business is LARGE. I gave away
rare chickens. ha ha. It was an interesting article. Almost all the flys that are used in fly fishing come from his breed of chickens.
Quite a large accomplishment. Aria
