Im sorry I know you love them
I dont really like the way they look - especially the comb .
They are soo cute when they are little .
They dont seem practical to me ...Small Eggs , Feathers in their faces .
With all the predators out there the last things chickens need is their vision blocked

Gramma, YES. You are right. We have learned.....we lost all but two of our Silkies. We now have Easter Eggers, and Rhode Island Red. AND WE HAVE A REFRIGERATOR filled with beautiful color and
LARGE EGGES. I still think Silkies are the MOST BEAUTIFUL AND HAVE A SUPER personality. Looking forward to increasing our flock with other breeds soon. Aria

Then he went out and got silkies ..LOL
You can trim the feathers off their faces ..so they can see better

Little Cowboy Has not been standing up since he fell off the roost ..
Ive Started Therapy for him . Standing him up while he eats ( steadying him )
Rotating moving his legs , Feet .
He has had a scab on his one ( elbow ? ) 2nd joint from the foot
I have been putting Neosporin on it and bandaging it up
A few days ago I noticed the scab was starting to come off on the corners
Today it was almost all off so I gave a little pull on it and off it came
it had a whole underneath with a little point sticking out ..Im like what is that ?
and I pulled it out ..It was a pine needle that was stuck in the leg near the joint
No wonder the poor boy didnt want to stand on his leg Compared to a penny

Anyone have infor on Forager.com?? I read about it in Mother Er. Got a warning and wondered how to navigate the site. Article says I can find info on NYS cottage industry laws.
I'm down sizing my chickens but without DW income after she passes I will need to get inventive to stay in my home.

TSC 'silkies' are good size birds, see just fine, lay great and early.
