NY chicken lover!!!!

ugh, stopped at TSC yesterday for some fence supplies, they had tanks full of all sorts. But one that caught my eye was Salmon Favorelle Pullets. Stood there and waited a bit, wanted to get a few, but since only 3 people ever seem to be working in that store and they were busy, end up passing them up. My easter chicks would bulldoze them over anyways, but may stop back on Monday to see what is "leftover".

I am surprised they still had chicks ..I think I saw in a email that chick days ended ..
They must have not got the email ...LOL
There was ducks, a tank with mixed bantams and Salmon Favorelles, tanks of Buff Orp pullets, australorp pullets, leghorn pullets, GLW, RIR, Cornish cross. Weekend crowd usually picks it off.

it may be they let the stores decide how long to sell chicks ..Maybe in your area they are still people interested in chicks , etc

Anybody know of places that sell fencing for cheaper than TSC, Lowe's, etc.? We need to expand our run for all the new girls we bought this year and the fencing is going to kill us. I'm about ready to stop at old broken down farms and ask the people if they have fence to get rid of, lol!

What about a pallet fence ?
You can use chicken wire but remember it only keeps chickens in ..not predators out ...
craigslist - https://syracuse.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=fencing&sort=rel

My daughter bought 50 feet of 30" yard wire (1x2 openings) and re-rod fence posts to contain her poultry. The wire was around $30 and the posts are about $2 each. Not so expensive and very easy to move around. She fastens the fence with zip ties and moves it around to keep the ground fresh.

Thanks Gramma Chick, always forget about craigslist, I'll look thru it later. We don't use chicken wire, too flexible and want predator protection. Actually what we're using right now isn't ideal - wire fence with 2" holes wrapped in the plastic stuff but it's what we had when we started. The hardware cloth is way too expensive to do the amount we need. Our run right now is approx. 60x25 and we want to expand it out another 15 feet. It has no covering at this point (another future wish). Have to expand the coop too (scanning the countryside for old barnwood). I HATE chicken math! :barnie
Horsekeeper - thanks to you too....our fencing is 4 ft. high right now and actually wish it was higher, not sure how she keeps her chickens in, a couple of our daredevils fly out as it is, lol. Don't really want to clip their wings.
