Thanks Gramma Chick, always forget about craigslist, I'll look thru it later.
Home Depot has some welded wire for about $50.00 -$60.00.
We used this for a run and later turned it into a coop by adding fencing slats on the fencing . then split it in half and made a baby coop

Wow! Nice! I found 100 feet of hardware cloth for 135 on tsc.com. Didn't want to spend near that amount but compared to others that I've looked at, it was reasonable so we bought it. It will cover about 1/3 of our run and all of the expansion we are doing (not the top) so happy with that. We'll eventually buy another roll when we can. I want all of it done in hardware cloth because we have a lot of predators around, I've seen weasels crossing the road, etc...ugh. Our new problem is need to find a ton of fence to go around the perimeter of our whole property as we've caught the girls in the road twice this week, never done that before. THAT fence I don't care about hole size, hopefully something on craigslist!

They have to be taught to not cross the road ...I had this problem with young roosters leading the flock across the road . this is what I did ..I picked up the leaf rake and hit it on the ground behind them so they go back to our side of the road ...Chasing them home ...Yelling at them Bad Girls ...after a few times they learn not to go over there ..
Funny story about my 1st rooster Lucky - he knew he wast supposed to be across the road so he would stand on my lawn and crow at them ...Eventually..I would go why is he crowing ? (He was a quiet Rooster ..and crowed for a reason ) he was trying to get them to come back ...I always thought of it as he was blowing them in..

Tried to add text above - years later and I’m still learning lol. I gave my daughters school some Silkie and Satin eggs. Her teacher is letting her take the lead in this unit. A memory my daughter will never forget. They are now home and I added them to the bantam white polish i hatched on the same day. All getting along nicely. Oh and it’s her birthday today so i bought those cupcakes to celebrate. LOL

My husband took a similar approach except took his shotgun down and shot it in the air, to say they hurried home is an understatement. Luckily we're very rural, lol. To our knowledge they haven't done it again but I'm sure I'll eat my words! :duc
