Craigslist is your friend. If they are not chicks, your not bound to the 6 or more law this state has.Hey hey fellow NY-ers! I'm down in Cattaraugus County. Is there an easy way to just get one hen that is for sure a hen? I split 6 barred rocks with a friend two years ago and one was a rooster, off he went. Then I took a gamble on some 6 week old Orps....yet another cockerel and he had to go. Then last year, my Rhode Island Red went broody so we gave her seven potentially fertilized eggs to try. She hatched one... Another cockerel. What are the dang odds?! Clearly not 50/50. It seems every hen has a buddy except my Orp who spends most of her time flock-adjacent on her own.
Seen so many people on craigslist selling males as hens wouldnt trust that site at allCraigslist is your friend. If they are not chicks, your not bound to the 6 or more law this state has.
Lots in my area selling older pullets close to laying. Easy to tell a roo at that age.Seen so many people on craigslist selling males as hens wouldnt trust that site at all
Yeah a quick eyeball within 100 miles of me and they're all roosSeen so many people on craigslist selling males as hens wouldnt trust that site at all
I'd keep looking on CL. Someone is going to realize chicken keeping isn't for them and will want them gone.Yeah a quick eyeball within 100 miles of me and they're all roos
We do have a weekly farm auction near me but they've held off on chickens on bird flu precautions. I feel with my odds I'm probably better gambling on 6 chicks to get one hen
