NY chicken lover!!!!

I took the empty shell out from under the momma and it was one of the LITTLE shells....Not sure who laid it, but it is gonna be a bantam. Let's hope it's a pullet, cuz there isn't much meat on a Bantam roo.

And it's sooooo cute. About half the size of a regular chick. (but still bigger than a quail chick, thank god. Those things are so tiny my roo would squish them by mistake trying to get on the roost)

If they have never drank out of a nipple feeder do they problems adapting?

Another question on nipple waterers...I have a mixed flock. I have few small chickens and buckeyes. When I hung the waterer for the bigger birds, it was to high for the small birds. When I hung it for small birds, it was to short for the LF. When I left a bowl out, NOBoDY would use the nipple waterer! Suggestions?
Ginny

I use larger nipple waters made out of 5 gallon buckets - one thing I've done when have both adult and teen birds is to put a brick on the ground under one end of the bucket - the smaller birds hop up on the brick. If I have BABIES, I have a smaller one made out of a little bucket and I put that one at baby height.

I have a rock next to my waterer in the Del run so Frenchy can reach it. She's a frz bantam. Strange how the big girls don't pick on her or Buckwheat. Another frzi.

Bantams have "short man syndrome" and the attitude to go with it. My D'uccles RULE the roost. It's kinda funny to watch the flock part when the little girls want something in the middle of the flock. A lot of bang for your buck with those tiny dynamos. I'm not surprised your banties are not picked on...no one dares cross them
