It's probably a good thing that I don't currently have an incubator, as I'd be tempted to set some of my Leghorn's eggs to see if they're fertile (she continues to be my big boy's favorite girl - he moons about after her constantly), and to see what a White Leghorn/SS cross looks like.

Hey, gang - let me ask you for a tiny favor. I had a job interview Wednesday for a staff pharmacist position at Express Scripts in Troy. As pharmacy benefit management companies don't mess around, they're making their hiring decisions and contacting the candidates either way today (Friday - yes, it is indeed 2 AM, because I'm an owl by nature). I came out of the interview feeling that it went well, although of course you never know. The big boss was interested in one of my degrees (my MS) because it's from a University of Florida distance program, and actually said, "I'd love to hear more about that program sometime soon, as it sounds really cool - you'll have to tell me all about it," which struck me as a good sign. She also made a couple of other comments that strongly suggested that she had put me into the "keeper" category. So, if you could keep your fingers crossed for me, I'd appreciate it! I'd love to get this job, as it would be infinitely less stressful than my current retail position at an absolutely crazy-busy chain pharmacy. Improved quality of life? Yes, please!

Hello from right between Buffalo and Niagara falls! Anyone else from my neck of the woods?

New to the forums, but have been stalking for a while. No chickens yet, but hoping for the spring!

You know I would give you some lt brahamas, but.......no eggs still. I do have some true mutts, EEs, RIRs, BRs, all in with a NH roo. I also have 3 TSC white silkies and 4 Sebrights (2 gold and 1 silver) in with 3 Sebrights roos (2 gold and 1 silver).

Wow, still no eggs from those Lt. Brahmas? You sure I didn't give you roos after all? LOL. Mine have been laying for almost two months now. Maybe I feed them too much.

I am going to try a few of my mutt eggs and see what happens. I know my EE roo has to be doing SOMETHING with someone so at least a few will be fertile. He can't make inroads with my leghorns (they still squat for me and I checked an egg yesterday - no go) but he seems to be trying with everyone else.

Git away from mah wimmen!

Help! I ran into a glitch. I posed in "Laws and Ordinances" under "Help! Chickens provided for in Code, but no one to issue permit?".

Chickens are provided for in the code, but they're telling me there's no way to get a permit since my city does not have a health officer. The city of Buffalo has a chicken ordinance. If I have to start fighting, does anyone else know any other WNY cities that actually permit chickens either with or without permits??

Anyone have any help or ideas?

Thanks!

Are they telling you to get rid of the chickens? If they aren't, then let it go, cuz public employees don't like to be bothered with thinking or serving the public. If they are then tell them to give you a permit or leave you alone.

Personally? I'd find some legal web site and print up a permit for myself and flash it if they come knocking....telling them "it's the best the office of public chickens could do for me"

Another thought might be to call the "Dog Catcher" and see if they can point you in the right direction.
