NY chicken lover!!!!

So, here's an update in the Trucker Chick saga!

Parts Guy had to make another delivery to Leghorn Guy's shop today, and told him about the bird. It turned out that Leghorn Guy's employees were playing a practical joke and put her in the truck. They thought she had escaped, but obviously she hadn't. Parts Guy roundly cussed the employees and told Leghorn Guy the story (bet he didn't tell him about his screaming like a little girl, though) So, Leghorn Guy called DH's shop and asked about the bird. DH offered to give her back ("tell him my wife would gladly give her back - she would want one of hers back"), but Leghorn Guy said he doesn't really care (he has 100 birds or so), and I'm free to keep her.

Yay, Trucker Chick!

This so needs to be a kid book.

Yes. It does need to be a children's book. There is sooooo much to be learned/taught in this story.
1.Pranks can backfire
2.Honesty can get you what you want
3.Compassion ("tell him my wife would gladly give her back, she would want one of hers back")
4.Where eggs come from (egg found in truck with chicken)
5.Not all "speculation" is correct (First assumption chicken wandered into truck looking for place to lay egg)
6....hmm...I think you are getting the idea. It really needs to be written as a children's book. The kids will LOVE it.

It could be written at 2 age levels. As a Flap book for the under 2 year old set and as a story book for the over 3 years set. (Ok, I am designing the lift a flap book in my mind....it would be a really cute adventure of animals wandering on and off a delivery truck, with lots of giggles from the kids regarding who winds up where)

What an awesome story!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor lady leghorn. At least she'll have a home where she's appreciated now!! What are you going to name her?

Doesn't she already have a name? "Trucker Chick"

Around here, that'll probably stick! My other Leghorn is Barbie Girl, because she was a platinum blonde chick - why not Trucker Chick?

So VERY true!!

Heni, why do I picture "Trucker Chick" hanging out in the parking lot of the local truck stop? You know how many poultry trucks come through there!

Where to begin.

One - the story is a good idea and writing it is the easy part it's the Illustration that needs the most work.

Two - Itsy get a patten or rights to that drawing right away. It would be great for Bumper Stickers and you can surely make some money. Do the research and get going.

Heni - write that book and then see if one of the art students as the local school can do the Illustrating. Believe it or not Illustrators become as famous as authors sometimes. You will need to change the chicken from a White Leghorn cuz white is boring to a kid.

I believe we have a publisher here in Syracuse.

The latest chicken book we found in a small book store is "Chicken Joy on Red Bean Road" by Jacqaueline Briggs Martin.

If not let me know cuz I may give it a shot myself. Heck if Madonna can do it how hard can it be? I even have a title picked out.
