Mine only want to brood at goofy times of the year too. Silly girls.

BTW-As I am a bit of a procrastinator I found a grey tub from the Poultry Picnic at my house in August

with the name "Amy" on it. Pm me!

Anyone going to the Northeastern Poultry Conference? It's Jan 14th & 15th in Springfield, Mass. There will be a BYC table there, where BYCers can meet up and take a load off. Anyone willing to field questions at the table from the general masses for an hour or more is eligible for a 6 month GFM upgrade -PM Stoopid for details.

Hope to see you there! I'll be in my newly acquired blue (and man, is it blue!) BYC hoodie. -Martha

No snow here! It's cold, but everyone seems fine. No frostbite on my leghorns yet, YAY.

My brooder is ready for babies - check out the new ecoglow 50 - it's bigger than it looks!

Featherz: Nice Ecoglow!

We have about 3-4 inches of snow. The wind last night was very nasty and I had to shut the front coop doors almost all the way.
Sledding on our hill was cold and fast. Everyone was rosey faced and wanting hot cocoa when coming inside.

Chooks went right out into the snow, so I shoved an area for them to peck in and threw down some scratch.

Sun is great today, so opened one side of coop all they way. Girls are happy sitting in the sun.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

snow bad, heat good.

I bought some felt to go over the front of my hoop coop. A nice green and yellow for the door. Will post pics. Want to block the breeze or blowing wind. I'm thinking of buying some next year to go under the tarp, sort of as an insulation factor. Kathy told me a bout a book on Open Air Poultry houses for all climates by Prince Tannat Woods.

Take care, I hear a donut calling me,

I hear Cannolis - my DD and her friend just made 18. Oh, YUM-O!

I'm not big on Cannolis, on another note I was happy to see the Hoop coop temp at over 30*, this afternoon. I may just cover the sides with felt and leave the door and see how it goes.
