Yah, was thinking about that as well.

I'd love to have bees also but not sure I could handle it. Buzzy things that sting kinda scare me.

ETA: Brrrr!! C-c-c-old this morning. Just went out with some warm leftovers (rice/barley/scrambled eggs) and all seem well. Crazy-*ss leghorns already in the run in the dark trying to get out.

5 degrees this morning. Wind and windchill yesterday made my hens choose to stay in their coop all day even though their pop door was open. My silkies, however, were out all day. Weird that the bantys didnt mind the cold and wind but my divas refused to go out. Looks like another hot breakfast for everyone to warm up. I hope my hens get back to laying again soon. Its been almost a month with no eggs and I hate buying them at the store. Looks like I will be changing water all day for the silkies (no room for a heater in their coop).

Stay warm everyone!

Got down to 0.8 here.. 5F when I let the chickens out and my leghorns had already dropped their three eggs.

It was frigid here this morning, but that didn't stop anyone from wanting to go out in the run. We put the heated dog water bowl in the coop last night, and it was filled with nice, cool, LIQUID water this morning, which made me quite happy.

I did have to block off the space behind the "playroom" door, as a couple of my goofballs are laying there again, resulting in another frozen, cracked dog treat this morning. The eggs in the nest boxes are fine, if pre-refrigerated. I found one of my BOs behind the door a few minutes ago, so I booted her out and put their fan and some wood back there. She was NOT happy, but tough noogies on her.
