NY chicken lover!!!!

This was one year ago. EEK. Of course I prefer this January with NO SNOW.We did cover the run this year with a gray tarp. And you will note the Pond (that was used when we had Call Ducks) Now we have gold fish. Aria

Aria: Your coop is too cute! Love the little cupula on top.

Rancher: I agree. I probably don't need to shut the wooden doors on my coop as much as I do but gee whiz - it's cold (interpretation = I get cold) when the wind blows through. It's southern facing, but the wind around here curls around and blows all directions. Most noticeable when we have the fireplace going. You need to move your chair from place to place to stay out of the smoke. No where is safe.

The chickens had a great day today with even Doris and Shyanne getting out of the small coop and free ranging a bit. Replaced some of the cardboard nest boxes with the upside down plastic tote nest boxes which they all thought was interesting. Spread more wood shavings and now we are fresh for the next cold spell.

It's ok if it stays warm though.

Cleaned the coop yesterday. Wow, nice in there! Clean shavings for bedding, cedar shavings ONLY in the nest boxes, some DE all around, swept and tried to get the cob webs. Why are there so many cob webs? Gosh looks like a haunted house in there! Well, except that now the floors are nice.

Have a great day everyone - high of 31* for us today.

Just bought myself the new digital control panel Genesis 1588 Hovabator w/1611 turners from Cutler for $183.11 with shipping. Thanks Rancher for telling me to get that one. I was himming and hawing about which one and heard only good things about this one.

happycountryhens: Thanks. My husband built it for the Call Ducks. And if you can see it....there is weathervane one top
with a Duck. I want him to make a NEW weathervane with a Chicken.

happyhensny: Our barn is the same....loaded with cob webs. I have an old dustmop I use to remove them. I think it is the dust
from the hay, shavings etc.

We had snow and it is still snowing. We NEVER let our Silkies out in Winter. They had the covered
run and the barn. Much easier. Aria

Wrote a message when I uploaded the image. Did not print? Sorry.
This is another view of our Barn...and no snow. I am trying to
get my husband to change from the Call Duck to Chicken
on the weathervane he made.

Needs to be in the mood. Not in the mood..ha ha Aria
