Rancher, remember I am new to Chickens. What are NN and EE? Thanks Aria

NN is Naked Necks also referred to as Transylvanian chickens due to the origin.

EE's are Easter Eggers. They are a cross and can lay , green, blue or green blue or brown eggs. Ameracuanas are also a cross but a more stable cross and lays a blue egg. . Araucanas lay a blue egg. Many confuse the EE's with Ameraucanas

We are trying to hatch Silkie Eggs. Learning is fun.

We have a small barn and are going with just Silkies. Have not learned how to
keep more than one breed. Learning takes time I guess. Aria

Nice NN pics. Almost make me need some of yours. (Almost, mind you; and some of yours because their feathering is very pretty.)

Rancher: hope you get some nice Ameraucanas from those pretty blue eggs.

Twenty eggs last night and one of partridge rocks is moulting. She is only 9 months old.

New feathers are growing in already in neck area. Huh...strange.

Beautiful day. Ground is still snow covered tho.

I'd be happy to provide someone with NN hatching eggs IF I could figure out for sure which ones they were. I have eight NN girls, but they are in with 13 others so it's all a tossup as to who laid what. I just set a few each time and hope a NN pops out. Got three NN out of four eggs on my V-day hatch!

See there Rancher? I'm in the same boat...I kinda know which ones they are but I'm never positive until they go into the bator..did that make sense?

I do love my girls, I've got 2 black ee/nn crosses and the one new hampshire red looking one. One of the blacks is actually split to lav and has the pea comb and lays a blue egg. Now if only I had a lav roo...hmm..where oh where could I get a lav roo......

You can keep as many breeds as you want in one area.....just only keep the ROOS from the breed you are trying to get more of. Then all your chicks will be 1/2 that roo and 1/2 the momma... pure bred from the hens of the same breed.....If you have silkies only, right now, and get Large Fowl breeds it will be easy to tell their eggs apart. (Silkie eggs are much smaller than Large Fowl eggs)
