NY chicken lover!!!!

Good morning; Does anyone grow blueberries? I have several in the ground and just last year I bought 2 'lemonade' blueberry plants. I put them in containers and at the end of the summer dragged them into the garage ,also wrapped them in burlap. Well I am so excited I just dragged them back out and they have tons of beautiful buds. Now just to keep the girls away from them.Last year my hens were not free ranged so it is going to be a big surprise to them in a couple of weeks when I put up fencing. I'm not looking forward to changing the whole look of my yard but will live have to with it. My luck I'm jumping the gun and they'll be dead by morning.

Well I've got 19 chicks in the brooder, a broody on 9 eggs in the coop and I'm going to set some more eggs on friday and I just got the notice I have pullet coming in the mail. Plus in late April another 25 del chicks.

I just gave away 4 chicks to a friend today and I hope she'll take more later. When I'm done I'll have 9 different breeds. Though it's the roosters that concern me. I wish I lived in no mans land. I'd rather deal with the crowing than a barking dog.

This new pullet is to go with Mr. Crooked Toes. They are Montgomery Blue Travers. Has anyone ever heard of them before. I may just have to start showing but then the state person will go crazy doing all the blood tests.

I expect to replace all my Del hens with younger girls. Though some of these are only a year old as it is.

why is it that a barking dog will keep me up, wake me up or just plain make me mad but a crowing bird ...well,, I roll over and say all is ok, and go back to sleep?

Stylin' chooks, y'all. The beast of a Leghorn in the middle is the infamous Trucker Chick. She looks fabulous nowadays, although a bit dingy. Yay, mud.

I also like this photo of my chief cockerel, Rosco. The flash reflecting from his eye makes him look like some sort of Demon Roo. Hard to believe that he's only nine months old. You can see where the poor guy got frostbite on his comb and wattles. He's healing really well, though - gotta love the Bag Balm.

Agway is announcing Chick Days... must... stay... strong...

Oh nooooo. I didn't even know Agway HAD chick days. I buy all my food there now, but I get it delivered. If they had chicks when I hatch for easter would love to 'salt' the mix with a few extra pullets..

Seems TSC is starting kinda early this year and ending early.. didn't they go until May last year? We're getting snow today, don't see people running out to buy chicks..
