I had a power outage for about 3 hours in Feb when I had eggs in the incubator, some did hatch, I only had a few in there though. I'm really bad at hatching though. I know other people on here that did have a good hatch rate when power has been out for a bit, so I think they have a chance, they just might be a little delayed possibly due to the disruption in heat.

Great pics Kathy! Glad you finally have it figured out how to post

I have ducklings hatching! I'm so excited, cant wait to tell the kids when they are done with school! Well I am off to have a mothers day tea party with my daughter and her kindergarten class

I'll update later and hopefully get some pictures up!

Good Afternoon!!!!
Philbee, your eggs should definitely hatch......but they may be slightly delayed, as AmyJ said. When we had that horrible snowstorm in February, we lost power for almost 3 days here. I had a bator full of eggs....but with a little finagling, most of them did eventually hatch.....although it was much later than expected (some up to 6 days later).
AmyJ, thanks!!! Oh, what kind of ducklings?!? That's great!!!! I know the kids will be so thrilled. Enjoy your tea party....that's too cute!!! And be sure to put some pics up....would love to see them!!!!!

Hello, been on this site for a while learned alot. So I thought I would finally start posting. Not many people on hear near me out in southwestern NY. I have buff orpingtons, golden lakenvelders, partridge rocks, partridge cochins, and salmon flavelous. just got done hatching some more Buff orps, lakenvelders, and partridgerocks. made my wife real happy lol she doesnt like the idea of more chickens but I catch her playing with the chicks all the time.

Hello Joanne!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed the pics!! Peanut is definitely the tiniest chick I've ever hatched. Here's a pic of Peanut and a "normal" sized chick.....so you can get an idea. Kathy

Thats too funny Kathy, we have a Peanut too! It hatched last Friday and its the tiniest bantam chick. I have to get the pictures off the camera so I can post them!

We have 3 ducklings out, with another one pipped. I'm really surprised any hatched. Our mallard had a nest and was doing a good job of sitting for about 2 weeks or so. She had 18 eggs, well we had a windy day and it blew the gate open for the duck pen, so the chickens got in and disturbed the ducks nest. We lost alot of eggs from that and only had six that survived. The momma duck was so disturbed she didnt want to sit on the eggs. So I took them and stuck them under the broody hen we had, and well she is hatching them out

The eggs were from both our mallards, but I didnt know if the dad was our mallard drake or our pekin drakes. All 3 look like mallard ducklings, so I guess they are mallards:)

Hi All You NY Chicken Lovers!!!!

Hope you enjoy the photos.
