NY chicken lover!!!!

Amen 100%, Cass. Just dusted off the circular saw to go out and work on the duck coop. It's gotten so extreme I have a duck setting on eggs inside an old coffe table

. When I get them ouside there will be a nice big brooder waiting for someone to help me fill it. I hope someone on here will be waiting for me to show up with empty boxes and a full wallet in about a month.

Ok Cass I've talked it out with the DH. We're going to have a get together this year instead of next. We live 10 minutes from Marquisella, so you just might get your chance to buy some of her birds.

I'm not planning a chickenstock, just a simple gathering of chicken friends at my home. I have plenty of space.
Sunday August 26 at noon to whenever. My veterans calendat says that day is women equality day (just thought that it was neat unrelated trivia).

YES!!!!!! We have a winner.!!!

Tab, can you start a thread regarding this gathering and post the link here and in your signature line. (Last year a couple of us verbose ones added the link to our signature line so it was "in the faces" of all who read the thread)

Perhaps you read the thread about last year's gathering? It worked well for those of us who attended to keep in touch and let the host know what we were bringing, etc.

We understand it isn't a Chickenstock....ok, those of us who went to Annie's last year do, anyway....it's just a gathering of like minded folk who want to swap eggs/food/recipes and talk about our favorite chickens without getting strange looks when we call them by name.

What can I do to help?

Everyone gas up the cars we have a date, time and location to get together!!!!!

Oh, ps, count me IN. Just need address and I am THERE!!! (Annie PM'd her addy to everyone who was coming instead of posting it online....safe thinking for sure)

Welcome to BYC and this thread. Glad to have you aboard.

There is also a thread for southern NY state. (we lost some of our favorite people to it.sigh) I don't keep the link to that thread handy, cuz I'm carrying a grudge, but you can find it in the "Where are you" section of the forum listing, if you are interested in communication with people close to you.

Chickens are welcome as well. To those who wish to bring them. I'm inlisting the DH to set up a thread for it.

I guess what I am meaning to clarify in as far as swaps and stocks is... do you BYC'rs have a personal NY get together... that is what us Okies in the BYC have once a year in the spring time(used to be twice a year spring and fall)... that is where we called it POOPS... We would meet at a central location for a good solid day of.. chicken talk... auction. swaps .. raffle.... and a potluck blessing... ect ect It is loads of fun... we even get t shirts ordered that represent our fun time together... I just thought it would be Nice if us NY BYCrs could do something of the sort... our own lil personal chicken reunion...

Yes, actually we do. Tab's Chicken Obsession just volunteered to host this year. Once her Hubby gets the thread up and running regarding the event I will put the link in my signature line, as will others, I am sure.

Also, several of our NY friends are planning an event in MA and NH....Knowing what I know about your location, NH might be doable for you, but MA is probably 6 hour + drive for you.

Of course you are always welcome to come to the Albany area to visit and I'll gather a few locals to chat with ya.

here is the way I see it. If I say I have eggs hatching on such and such a date, or anyone else does, how is it any different than saying TSC in bla bla bla town has Pekins and RIR's in stock?

Exactly! I'd much rather be able to come here and see what breeds my "neighbors" have (which is how I got my SS from Annie) than have to poke around the for-sale section of the forum.

I'm in! *starts planning this year's version of the wine raffle basket*

The duck peeps will be seven months old by that point, so maybe I'll have some production Rouen eggs to bring along. That's assuming that I didn't somehow manage to get eight drakes and no hens.
