Morning all! I see everyone has been taken in by the baby goat pics (which are cute, as well as the young man holding them)! Chickens are the only thing I have room for on my acre. I need to win the lottery so I can by more land!
Tab--I hope your beagle hacks up what she ate rather than gets it stuck. That would be an expensive vet bill. My lab eats all kinds of crap and usually I end up cleaning it up later if I dont get him outside fast enough. Ugh. What is it with dogs eating nasty, wierd stuff?
I dont know if this qualifies for the easter hatchalong but I did set 32 eggs in my bator on wednesday. All silkies. Temp is holding around 100 to 101, depending on which thermometer you look at. I have two thermometers and two hydrometers in there as I have found out that even with the fan in it the temp varies slightly from one side to another. I have no water in it but the humity is reading between 20 and 30 percent so I figure thats pretty good. I will candle on wednesday and see how many I have to pull. I am still not sure about my own eggs but hoping for the best.
Hoping to work on the coop some today. Looks like rain though. I am hoping it holds off so we can get lots more done. Also have to clear a spot in the cellar and set up the brooder box for the chicks that are arriving april 3rd.
Cass--I think you were the one who said when you raise your children through the teenage years you understand why some animals eat their young. I totally agree! I used to tell my daughters that when they were getting on my last nerve. It kept them wondering!!!
Everyone have a nice day!
