NY chicken lover!!!!

Are you kidding! Chocolate! How did you do it? Are you saying the new pair are laying also?

it was not easy. If I were 100% sure i could sex them, I probavbly would have. But I would really just have been guessing.

yes Penelope is laying every day. saving her eggs to hatch.

My little rumpless Araucana roo is such a sweetheart. I am keeping him, and don't know what to do with the EE and Ameracauna roos. The EE is so pretty and looks like he will be a really good roo like his daddy, but I can't keep them all.

I know the feeling! My rumpy is sweet to me and to his hatchmates, but he's eeevil to the chicks. And they've been 'cooped' up together, with babies in a cage, for two weeks now. I let the smaller chickens out and the girls all ignore them and the little football roo goes after them immediately - they run screaming back to me and the cage. I think when I'm off work thursday I'm going to separate the boys and see if I can integrate everyone else.

They are only about 5 weeks different in age. My EE roo is going to be beautiful - big long flowing tail. Had a couple of scary types respond to my CL ad, so maybe I'll delete that one and put it up in Albany. If they are to be humanely raised for food, that's one thing - but *other* things I am trying to avoid. They'll probably go to auction this weekend IF my 'separate the boys' experiment is successful and if no one else wants them.

Brrr.. Cold this morning! I put my nipple waterers out a bit too early. The ones IN the coops did not freeze, but all my outside waterers were frozen solid. Oh, and the little one in the coop with the chicks. For the heat lamp crowd, the 6 week olds were just fine outside with no heat (21F), even the NN.

When do TSC chick days end? Are they over after easter? I was hoping to find a handful of all-pullet chicks the week after easter to give to my broodies - maybe Agway will have them then?

Here's 'Football' - doesn't he look eeeevil? Tried to get a better pic, but my Eye-Fi memory card is getting write errors. Grr. Also got a pic of a hawk stalking my chickens - so far my roo has them all herded under a large bush.

What Tractor supply? I have been trying to find. Thanks I live around the Cortland Ithaca area. Going to check Tractor supply down here again tomorrow .

Hey, if anyone is looking for silkies, I picked up 4 (2 blue and 2 black) using this add from craigslist. They're all healthy and feathering out really nicely. 3 were day olds which came directly out of a breeding pen with a broody white silkie and one was two days old out of an incubator.

Called Cortland TSC - no new chick shipment today. They don't know when they will come in. Last week shipment wasn't until Thursday or Friday. So I guess I will be calling every morning this week!

TSC Chick Days run through April 13, according to the website. CountryMax Peep Week comes in on April 10/11.

Thanks for the listing! I emailed them to see if they have left. Are the bearded silkies?

In their pictures, the silkies are beardless.
