NY chicken lover!!!!

I've had one of those days where you.....

A girl at work is mad at me because i did some of her work while she was at lunch. I didn't have much going on so I thought I would help her out. I guess I'm a little upset because she's mad over something so stupid. Then when I picked up the girls and stopped at the store every where I turned someone was cutting in front of me and then stopping. The girls kept saying they wanted candy in a whiny voice and tried to take things off shelves. Sometimes I wish I could survive by being a hermit at home.

Sorry for the rant. Hope everyone else has had a better day.

I used to work in the kitchen at school until I tried to help out the one lady that serves the food. She was hot and Bit**** about it so I walked over and asked if she wanted to fan on, about took my head off. Really? Quit complaining and do something about it. UGh.

Just one of those days, sorry.

Thanks guys.

The girl is always so upbeat. She really surprised me. I guess she has a certain order she she plates the 3 racks of samples in and then a certain way to put them in the incubator. Her way is not the "set" way to do things but her way (which she has all rights to have her own way of doing things). I guess this incident has shown me another side of her that I didn't want to know. I have no intentions of trying to help again.

Morning, peeps! Got the lawn mowed yesterday. That was overdue and, yet, oddly early!

Rancher, just for the record, I have dealt with China through eBay and work (mostly electronics) and only once had an issue. (I fully agree with the USA first attitude, though.)

Well, I have a bit of a dilemma. Went out to feed today and found our very first turkey egg. (We only have one pair...Jersey Buffs.) I am pretty sure Penny is not going to sit on it. I have a couple of Silkies that are taking turns on a nest. Would it be alright to put the turkey egg in with them? I have quail eggs in the bator right now and the neighbor is using the other one for duck eggs, so that is not an option.

Yup. You'll never break a silkie of being broody and you really have NOTHING to lose, right? Give them the egg and watch the fun when it out grows them at 2 weeks of age. LOL

I'm tired of doing everything around here by myself. So I am not doing anything tonight. Man, the place is gonna be a mess when Ray gets home. Oh well, he could have taken me with him, right?

Just got back from running around to get all my supplies for these chicks! Went to Troy TS, that had a TON of chicks, then I had to venture to Clifton Park TS and they had TON of chicks! Everyone must have gotten shipments in today cuz those bins were FULL! Kinda felt bad for all those chicks squished together. I have to say, I am really excited to get these chicks after seeing how these two chicks reacted with my kids today. There was this small round tub on the ground that my kids could actually reach their hands into to pet the two chicks in it. At first they scurried away of course when my kids went to pet them. Well then I reached in to pet one and it's like they already warming up to us. Then we strolled around came back, and would you believe it those chicks came running over to the side of the tub my kids were at. Amazing! I can't wait now for Saturday!

Anyway, Troy was all out of feeder dishes AND light bulbs. So I got the lamp and bedding and then drove out to Clifton Park to get the bulb and feeder.

I am feeling the same way today. DH came home late, I had already dropped DD off to track at 3, DS wanted to play soccer at school (same place I dropped of DD) so I went back up to drop him off, DH still MIA, waited at school for track to be over, came home made dinner. Yup, time for a cold beverage and the sofa.

I'm pooped today too.. been doing puttering household and 'farm' stuff today and would love to just sleep. :p But I hafta go to albany way past my bedtime tonight - DH coming home a day early and needs a ride home. :p

I'm hoping to convince him to help me expand a run tomorrow - one of my coops could hold a lot more chickens (it's only at about half capacity, even with 4sf per chicken), but the run would be too small. Would be a problem in the winter and work days!

Where to begin.

Grey - I have nothing against China just wary of doing business over seas is all. To many horror stories.

Now for the Red lights. I find that the 250 watts can be too hot. Even in the back room they create quite alot of heat. In my office I have it as high as I can get it and it's still to hot. Even for the newborns. They do sell 175 watters but not in the store. I'd have to order one.

Tab - oh pa-shaw, there is not reason for being rude. I work in the Kitchen at school volunteer. I serve soup and let me tell you for a guy to be in there is to threaten some women's femininity.
But I take no guff. Be nice or be gone is my motto. I had enough of that crap at the PO. I'm not territorial and I let the ladies know right off. You want to do it do it, but if you don't do it and I do it then keep your comments to yourself.

Not that some do you know. I am nice though when it happens. No one was making desserts so I started bringing in cake mix bought with my own money. Well then it's "oh I can make dessert". Well why weren't you doing it then? Or if they say " do you want me to make the cake?" (sweet as pie you know) I say sure you can do it if you want. And they do and I don't have to, but I tricked them into doing it.

and they don't realize it. I just hate when folks don't do something and then see you doing it and come over and start giving suggestions on how you should do it. Then I just throw the stuff at them and say do it your way then. (not really but you get the idea)

But the woman in charge is real nice and she lets me do lots of stuff and gives me some liberty. Honestly being a man they don' t give me to much trouble. I cook and bake and wash the dishes and mostly work at making desserts. Can't see why that's such a big deal. Really we all work well together. If some one is territorial I just stay out of their way.

I'm only there two days a week and I can put up with folks for a couple of hours or so. I know some folks are uncomfortable around me too.

Now my rooster I don't intend to get rid of him cuz I can't be out there with the girls 24/7 so I figure if he protects the girls he's a good guy. I just watch out for him and he watches out for me and we get along fine. I try not to challenge him or make him feel uncomfortable. I will however warn folks to stay away. The flock is out back away from the house pretty much and no one really goes back there but me. I dont' make any sudden moves either.

I try to let you all know I'm reading what your saying but I forget and can't go back to see what you all said.

Oh Silkies, I use to have some but they're to prissy for me. That and the rooster would not shut up. Good garden o' peas! So I sold them. I hatched them from eggs from AL but no one really wanted to buy them when I first got them. The woman is byc member and she shows down in AL and that area. She had some really nice birds too.

Well take care everyone.

Love ya ,

Rancher

Here's one for my gardening peeps - a quick tutorial on how to grow potatoes in a trash bag. I may actually end up doing this, as it looks extremely easy, which means I'm all for it.

Also, let me inflict one of my artsy "around the yard" photos of my forsythia bush on you, just because it's cheerful and it sounds like we could use a little bit of cheer around here this evening!
