My husband spent the entire day with her yesterday tho and said his goodbyes. He's just relieved she doesn't have to suffer anymore. She is now in heaven playing cards with her twin sister. Again thank you everyone.
I am so sorry for your loss but am glad the pain is gone for her. My condolences to you and yours.

Welcome to the forum I am in Hamburg just north of you. I have had good luck finding wood to use on big trash days to help build my coops.

In over 9 year I have never wormed once. Never saw a worm in droppings. Here is the thing. Everything, even you and I have a healthy balance of worms inour systems. Once you start " just in case" worming" you will always need to worm. Give your birds enough space, use a good healthy deep litter in the coops and keep runs if you have them clean and you will probably never have a worm. I have not. I should say, never have an unhealthy balance of worms.
Feed your birds pumpkin seeds or whole pumpkins, winter squashes. Natures dewormers. That is what I do. In season.

This is very helpful; thank you, Stony!

Stony Dont you use Apple Cider Vinegar in your water too ? Which is supposed to also make their digestive un-hospitable for worms ..
I have also heard of using Cayenne Pepper in their food ..It does not bother the chicken s ( no heat sensors ?) Kills the worms ...( worms have heat sensors ? ) Lol

I was thinking of what you said about the crows ..eating with the chickens
Do suppose the hawks just think they are chickens ? Looks like a chicken ..acts like a chicken ..Must be a chicken ...LOL
yes I do. Keeping chickens as naturally as possible sure beats loading them with chemicals to "treat" them
