I don't miss those days. For one class I used to get up early run up to the campus and slide it under his door. I don't think I ever saw the professor. Perhaps once.

There's not a whole lots you can do about it now. Might as well give it shot, I say. Though a lower temp would be better. 40-50* imo.

Haha I know I was the same way. I rarely went to my undergrad classes but in graduate classes where there are only 10-15 students I can't get away with that

Hmmm I'll keep the lower temperature in mind. Its hard in my house to find somewhere that's 40-50 degrees.

Is anyone else having a hard time selling eggs??? The last week and a half, I swear, I have sold about 3 dozen total. Are people not buying because of the weather?

I've actually found the demand going up around here because of Easter I guess. I have some people willing to pay $5 a dozen for my little green eggs...crazy if you ask me but I won't complain.

Forgot to mention, I have eggs from county boy hatching!! Ended up with 16 eggs at lockdown and so far have three chicks -two little dark bantams and one lighter LF chick. Go chickies go!!

Me too. I sell for the same price and it's been a bit slow lately. I brought 25 dozen today to the schuylerville auction (I get three dozen a day!). Gave a bunch to work and brought some to the food bank as well.

I just emailed our local food bank to see if they accept donations. I hate to, but at least they're going to a good cause. I won't sell old eggs.

Yuh, I wrote on the boxes I took to the auction today that the dozens contained green, blue, brown, white eggs. Hopefully that will help.

All hawks can be migratory, and they can migrate by the thousands. There is a location just south of us NYers that is famous for watching hawk migrations by the thousands called Hawk Mountain in PA. Some hawks stay residents if they are experienced in finding food for the winter. Red-tailed hawks are probably the most common resident hawks in this area, though some do still migrate. Other species are more prone to migration, such as red-shouldered hawks, Coopers, etc.
It's one reason I try to discourage people from shooting them (other than the obvious federal and state laws against it). Hawks can have such huge ranges and migrate thousands of miles, so it's sort of silly to expect to get rid hawk problems by shooting individuals.

Please understand I'm not an advocate of shooting hawks. I am more for deterrence if possible. I was just thinking the other day about those shiny whirly things they sell at the fair and if hanging them from the trees would help. I figure I can tie a string to a rock and toss it up over a branch and then hoist them up high into the tree. We have quite a few trees.

Moving on. Lord have mercy I snow blowed this Am and now the snow is all melted into a muddy mess.

not really. What I need is new customers. And I think I now have a few more. With more big girls laying this year I needed more eating egg customers. By Wednesday I was up to 20 dz in the fridge. Sold a bunch and now back up to 10 dz.

Hey guys, I just finished setting up my incubator and have it plugged in now. How long should I wait before putting eggs in? I mean obviously when it's at the right temperature, humidity etc. but do you generally have a rule of thumb on how long to monitor it for?

on average , at least a day, of course this depends on the type incubator. my R-COM is so precise on both temp and humidity that i could plug it in now and be putting eggs in it in 2 hrs and feel perfectly secure that those eggs will do great.
