NY chicken lover!!!!

I just set 41 eggs in the bator ( that's all my turner holds or there would be more haha..) the countdown begins! I set 8 Marans, 6 Silver Laced Cochins, 4 EE's, 6 Orpington and the rest are just some mixes from a friend and some from my coop. This is the most eggs I've ever set and only my third time so I'm crossing my fingers. Now to enjoy the rest of this beautiful sunny day!

I'm setting my first eggs shortly! I'm just doing one final check and adjustment on the bator! I'm going to be setting 24 I think, nothing special just a bunch of mixes from my coop, all Buff Orp. crosses.

Yay, we get to hatch together Mixes are special too, most of the time they are better layers and more gorgeous than purebreds. All the eggs from my coop are white leghorn crosses so I know they will be good layers. 21days is a long time lol

Haha it's like a mini hatch along! I have 2 eggs going in that are white leghorn/buff orp crosses I'm hoping they would get more the size of the orp but the laying of the leghorn.
I also got a dozen RIR's from a friend so hopefully they hatch ok.

My husband wants me to hatch a bunch of leghorns next, and I want to hatch silkies...going to be on the hunt for eggs at a good price locally very soon...just gotta sell off the chicks that hatch before hand.

An awesome day to sit outside with the chickens and just enjoy. My Silkies were very happy to get outside. Let's hope this is the beginning of a lot more sunny, milder days!

All my hens were crowded outside the coop doors where the snow had been shoveled and the dirt showed. Only the Norwegian Jaerhons venture out in the snow.
The game birds and ameraucanas in the second coup were up visiting the house this morning.
