NY chicken lover!!!!

I just posted to craigslist my excess ducklings. I wrote about their breed, gender (unknown), age, what items people will need if they wish to raise them. Now I expect I will be getting questions about all of these things as well as if I have any rabbits for sale or other nonsense. Craigslist.... uhg.

Was just on CL, if anyone is looking for chicks someone in Oswego has chicks, ducklings, a "hutch" and supplies all from TS that they are selling for $125. Guess they weren't ready to start with Chickens.

Why? I've got broodies on eggs and eggs in the bator. Which I hope I don't have the light go out again. So I'll be giving chicks and chickens away. Provided they take the roos too. I only need a couple of more EE , Dels and BM hens.

I'm keeping one BM rooster to secure things with the breed. I have three Del chicks and an Lav EE in the brooder I hope are pullets and then you can have the rest. I have 12 B Maran so I'm sure there will be at least two pullets there. I may keep three but the rest will have to go pullet or roo, don't matter.

MDerby I can use some more horse manure. Trades are always nice.

Sure there are auctions but they are to far away to make it cost effective. Not to mention the trouble of boxing up chickens. I absolutely will NOT be building coops this summer. NOT , NOT , NOT!

Though coops are easy for me, it's the fencing in that is a pain. I'll be working on securing my garden and berry plants from the vultures!

Rancher, if you need horse poop I can get you horse poop.

I am going to try giving a few pieces to the chicks and see what they do with it sometime this week.

I'm sure this question has come up on other threads, but I wanted to ask anyone who has ducks on this thread - Do you think it's ok to keep two orpingtons and three ducks (KCs) together in the same coop? Now that I'm getting more silkies I'm thinking I'll just stick to keeping the two coops I have seperated so the silkies can stay in one and the Orps in the other. But would it be ok to house the two orpington hens with the three ducks? Or should I really just get the ducks their own housing?

MDerby and I have traded poop for chicks. It's worth it to me cuz they bring it to me and pick up their chicks.

If you spread the poop on your garden the chickens will work it up real nice. It's funny how evenly they can spread the stuff. Much less work for me.

I don't know about Orpingtons and Ducks but I bet the Orpingtons would rather be with the duck than those creepy, sneaky silkies.

Silkies bad, ducks good. Silkies

I'm thinking of making an appt for my daughter tomorrow to check out this bite from the tick I found on her last night. It didn't look engorged at all, but it was definitely holding onto her skin. She still has a a dot from the bite and some redness around it, smaller than a dime.
